2 good tournaments this week folks, the Memorial in the US, and the Welsh Open in Celtic Manor.

My picks are as follows,

Memorial

Justin Rose 16/1
Carl Pettersson 66/1
Ryan Moore 80/1

Welsh Open

Richard Sterne 50/1
Julien Quesne 80/1

All E/W

Lets hope the luck stays in.

I see Rory Mac is drawn with Luke Donald and Keegan Bradley in the first round. That should be interesting, might drag his attention back to where it seems to have wandered from.

My betting record this year has been abysmal, but that won't deter me. I fancied Zach Johnson last week in Texas but was deterred by pre-tournament odds of 12/1. Jim Furyk kept himself on the leaderboard but without threatening the top 2.

Memorial:
Jim Furyk @ 25s. Been solid this year, he's in my season pool, and the course puts a premium on accuracy off the tee.

Louis Oost @ 45s. I can sense another win around the corner. Why not here?

Geoff Ogilvy @ 50/1. Slowly (way too slowly) returning to a bit of form. Knows how to win if he gets a sniff of the finish line.

My long shot is Gary Woodland @ 100/1. No particular reason, but he's proven he can win at this level.

Wales:
Fairly weak field and the only bets I like are -

Peter Lawrie @ 45/1. Confidence will be buoyed by performance at Wentworth and qualifying for the US Open. Will need to overcome fatigue though, as US Open qualifier was right after the BMW.

Monty @ 100/1. Does he have another win in him? (especially against a weakish field)

Not going to bother with Welsh Open but will have a cut at the Memorial given PP are paying 6 places.

From my initial viewing i'll probably take a look at Curtis, Branden Grace and Bubba at the very least. All 3 have been good to me this year so far!

Fair play, Sir Nick - you're on a good roll. You'll have the Vegas boys checking out AFR before setting their odds. Or maybe getting you to take a dive.

Ben Curtis, native buckeye playing well.

Steve Stricker, former winner here, due a good week.

Oosthuizen, don't believe he's won on the US tour and playing well.

Interesting to see how Rory plays after 2 missed cuts. I don't make a whole lot of it. He does need to play more. On the golf course that is!

Just checked the leaderboard - McIlroy had a quadruple bogey on a par 3, has had two birdies and another bogey since, 3 over after 9.

unfortunately faldo he made double bogey on his ninth. still though i'll be happy if he shoots around one under with two par fives on tha back nine to come. looks to be a lot of big names struggling. rory, simpson, bradley all started badly

Yep, a birdie and then an eagle - some performance, back at level with 4 to play and the leader is only in 4 under.

Hardly a fatigue issue i would think, just the course set up does not suit him.

I wouldn't fault Phil for this decision as he plays loads of tournaments anyway.

Scott started well for you Faldo.

Looking like i am depending on Justin Rose and Ryan Moore is the US.

Celtic Manor is playing real tough again today judging by early scores, Richard Sterne is my last chance there too.

memorial shaping into a good tournament.. not just sayin it because i have him backed but if tiger plays like he did last night can see him losing. his ball striking and distance control was excellent. made one double bogey and left a few birdies out there.

Yeah he played really well, hit some super irons and was unlucky for a few more birdies. Your in with a good shout with Tiger.
Byrd is tipping along nicely too and is in good form of late, could sneak this.

Me, Richard Sterne is rallying in Wales so fingers crossed.

For the Memorial im hoping Rose and Ryan Moore do something tonight and can be in contention tomorrow.

Best of luck to those invested.
