The ‘Cruciate Trio’ - Tomas Brady, Stephen Hiney and Conal Keaney - have all been named in Dublin’s starting team for Saturday’s Leinster SHC quarter-final against Laois in O’Connor Park, Tullamore (5.0).

Alan McCrabbe )shoulder injury)he joins fellow injury victims - Ross O’Carroll, Paul Schutte and Martin Quilty on the sideline. Ryan O’Dwyer is currently suspended.
DUBLIN (SHC v Laois)
1. Gary Maguire
2. Niall Corcoran
3. Peter Kelly
4. Tomás Brady
5. Stephen Hiney
6. Joseph Boland
7. Michael Carton
8. John McCaffrey
9. Shane Durkin
10. Danny Sutcliffe
11. Liam Rushe
12. Conal Keaney
13. Paul Ryan
14. Conor McCormack
15. David Treacy

Will be interesting to see how the 3 returning guys step up to the mark tomorrow. I wish them all well - its been a long frustrating time out for them. Solid team to be fair, but without O'Dwyer are there enough goals in that Full Forward line??? Sutcliffe and/or Rushe might have to move up there???

No win scenario for Dublin. If they win well the "sure it's only Laois" comments will come. If they struggle they'll be written off.

I expect them to win this by ten points. This is the best team we have right now bar Ryan O'Dwyer. Daly is teeing everything up for KK.

Should be an interesting day.

Hear hear amárach. I wish the three of them the very best tomorrow and hope they come through with flying colours. I'm looking forward to seeing what ye will do with a full deck (or thereabouts) to choose from this year - the pressure is on now!

In the spirit of fairness, best of luck to all the Laois lads too. In fact, I have to say that I'd like if Laois the underdogs won!

Have to say i was surprised that Dublin are starting the cruciate trio as when i saw them in the county championship they seemed well off what will be required, and they would do well to remember that Laois gave Limerick a fair fright in the qualifiers a year or two ago.

Hope I am wrong but I doubt Laois will get anywhere close to Dublin I'd fancy Dublin by about 15 points if they put in a half decent performance. Its probably a good game to reintroduce the 3 returning players as they wont have to be at 100% for Dublin to be able to get through the game and a championship match will do them good before Dublin are likely to face Kilkenny

i sincerely hope im wrong and they give dublin their fill of it, but on the face of it laois arent as equipped as 2/3 years ago under niall rigney. the likes of john a delaney, brian campion, cahir healy, joe fitzpatrick and zane keenan not involved today. very dependent on heroics from willie hyland to be competitive i fear!

Wouldn't really agree. Hiney looked good and Keaney ok on a Ballyboden team that was collapsing all around them. Didn't see Brady so can't comment.

It's a good game to reintroduce them.

Dublin 3.14 Laois 1.1 at half time. Strong wind for Laois in the second half but it's men against boys. Keaney and Hiney superb so far

Teddy exploits on the field will never be matched, but sadly as a coach i dont think hes up to it. I heard his pre match comments and they were very of the school.." ah sure we will give it a lash " stuff, the kind of stuff you would have heard 20 years ago or more. They got hammered by cork last year and obviously not much has changed.

D2, what do you think Dublin can take from the game? Seems have come together very well to be fair to Daly and his team.

Rush scored a goal after taking a dozen steps. Refereeing standard very low!

It happens Hitch in all sports.Watching a baseball game last night when the New York Mets pitcher fired a no hitter which was the first time it ever was done in their history but the umpire called an obvious hit by the other team that he called foul and which replays clearly showed he blew the call as it was a hit.The record will state as long as baseball is played he threw a nohitter. That is the way it is so long as we have humans calling the shots we are going to have mistakes made.Sometimes you get the call in your favor and other times you will not. It's a game not life and death now if a doctor makes a mistake tough sigt for you pal.

The approach was good. Hassle, get stuck in, give nothing up lightly. Exactly the way they'll have to approach KK.

It was a good game for Keaney. He looked very sharp and his pass to Rushe for the latter's second goal was a thing of beauty. Hiney looked good too and although Brady had little to do it was the ideal game for the three of them to be reintroduced to championship hurling. Corcoran, Kelly and Brady is a damn good full back line.

Also they were excellent on the basics, something that has let Dublin teams down in the past. Pick ups, hooking, blocking were all first class. Ok they weren't up against much but they did the simple things right, something they didn't manage in both games against Galway on the same pitch.

Not too many dumb wides either and good tackling with very little fouling, something which would have been easy to do as their intensity was a mile above Laois's.

The other thing to take out of it is that, with a virtual full hand to pick from, we can match anyone. I would still rate us as second favourites in any game vs KK but I think it would be no upset were we to beat any of the other teams, including Tipp, at some stage later in the year.

And when I think about last year vs Tipp I wonder what would have happened if the three boys had been on the pitch in the All Ireland Semi Final!!!!

Thanks Yank. I'm fortunate enough to be able to afford to travel to games like this one. Hurling is my first love and while we rarely have to travel to see the footballers I'd still go see the minors if needs be. I'd travel anywhere to watch the hurlers!
