If the deal gets concluded I would be happy enough with his signature. He will strengthen an obvious weakness in the United side. He can only be better than Park and Anderson.
Two years experience playing in Germany will help him but it is a big step up for him when the physical aspect to the English game is considered. Hopefully he can deal with that. At 23 he has time on his side.

An absolute bargain (16M no?) for a player of his quality, another masterstroke by Fergie. Fair play to the lad, had his mind set for some time on joining the biggest and best supported club in the world and didn't hoor himself around like so many players do these days. A much better signing for United than Hazard, United need central midfielders not wingers. Will fit in well with United, has the pace, vision and skills to fill that key attacking midfield role United have been lacking. With Vidic back and a few more signings to come, United will be in good shape for next season.

Not sure the busy body PC brigade would appreciate your thread title.

It will be interesting to see if he can buck the trend with regards to Asian players not really making it at the very top, I suppose you could say that Utd is not really the very top but it is still a highish enough profile club .

The Bundsliga is quite physical, German and Eastern European players are not known to be shrinking violets. Maybe not quite at the same level as the EPL but close enough I would say.
Kagawa is a much better player than Park or Anderson, scores lots of goals for one. Will be exciting to see himself and Cleverly link up. If you remember back to the beginning of last season United were flying and Cleverly's link up play between the back 4 and the attack was the key. Having Kagawa and Rooney ahead of him as an option in addition to Valencia, Young or Nani out wide is a mouthwatering prospect.
Time will tell but I think he will do well.

Hope you dont mind me asking and im not trying to be smart but did you know who this player was before there was talk of his possible transfer.
Bit like Hazard i dont think most people didnt know who these guys were 12 months ago now the are super additions to their respective squads.

With an aging squad, Fergie needs new lads to justify their price tags immediately.
With Chelsea and Man City hoovering up the proven superstars, he is shopping in the bargain basement (relatively speaking).

Likes of Kagawa need to be seriously better than existing members of the squad.

May be no accident that transfer announced on day that United look like losing the diamond from their youth ranks, Paul Pogba, to Juventus.

As good as a qualification as you can get for a top soccer player , I reckon 99% of die hard Utd fans had never heard of him either until this week.

United's estimated 300M fans in Asia would disagree with you.

They would...and be in utter delight that they have signed a player from under Madrid, Barca, City, Chelsea noses. Anyone that looks like they might be better than Park and Anderson should be taken seriously, not quite on the Carrick level but who knows, some day might reach that dizzy height. Name all Utd fans wanted to see! Finally got their man!

A good shirt seller however!

As inane a post as you have ever posted. Do you expect managers to hold an egm everytime with the fans they want to sign a player? By the way, I lived abroad for 25 years before returning last winter having left Cork in 1982. I never heard of Conor Lehane or Darren Sweetnam before this Spring's league, does that mean I can't support Cork anymore?

Park MKII then?..I also seem to remember a 16M on a certain P Jones last summer and hearing the same crack from Utd fans. Ill wait till he actually beds in and has 10-15 games in england before we see if its a bargain.
Is Cleverly not injured again?

Park didn't do too badly, he has a Champions League medal, 4 Premiership medals and a World Club medal.
Liverpool fans truly have no business criticising the signings of any other club, given the absolute waste of 100M last summer. Phil Jones? I'll raise you Andy Carroll, Stewart Dowling, Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson.
Cleverly has never fully recovered from the ankle ligament injury sustained in a horror tackle against Bolton last season that effectively ended his season. Let's hope he is back fit and well for the new season.

Yes Park has those medals, but it's not like he was a fulcrum in those teams that won leagues, cups etc.

They need players that will be central to any future successes, not bit-part players/squad players. And its players that might be under the Chelsea/City radar they should be concentrating their efforts on, if they go toe to toe with either of those two, it could simply result in them wasting their time chsing targets rather than aiming for the ones they can get.

I agree. No club can compete with Chelsea or City if they decide they want a player as those clubs have no financial obligations and their owners are happy to lose hundreds of millions to enjoy their plaything. The only hope for any other club even United is that the player wants to join as is the case with Kagawa. Based on what I have seen of him, I suspect he will not be a bit player but time will tell. United have lacked a true central attacking midfieder for some time.

With a powerhouse midfield of Cleverley, Kagawa, and Carrick should the bookies even bother taking bets against United regaining the title next season?

Paul Scholes was the fulcrum of that side, did you ever hear of him?

12m GBP but could rise to 17m. The lad looks the business alright, if they can get a spoiler to sit beside him the midfield will look a lot healthier. I'm thinking someone like Tiote of Newcastle or Strootman of PSV (who would be way cheaper than Tiote). A left back has to be a priority too with Evra all but finished. Jordi Alba or Leighton Baines would do nicely.

Labane..would ya go way outta that..telling Liverpool fans they cant critise another clubs signings just because Kenny made some poor ones..Fergie has signed bums like Veron,Djemba,Taibi etc or have your forgotten?.

Stick to the debate, ye spent 16M last year on Jones and i well remember the same craic.." bargain" " top player" " will be great addition"..now in time maybe he will and ditto this lad, but that midfield along with the lad who is injured all the time and lets be fair hasnt played a wet day to say how good he really is doesnt look good enough to win the championship next season.

OH..BTW..we have a new manager just in case you have been under a pillow for the last month, so those buys are previous under Kenny - Ill wait till maybe till Rodgers buys some and see how they do before commenting or else i can go back into the realms of time and dig up Utd flops.

A Utd source was quoted in the papers over the weekend as saying that Fergie feels that the likes of Tiote and Leighton Baines were out of Utd's league price wise and they will concentrate on bringing in lesser players who are more down to Utd's level.
