Just wondering how many neutrals would even consider going along to Croke on Saturday to watch the Ring, Rackard and Meagher Cup finals?
Come to think of it, apart from an All Ireland or Munster final, when was the last game any poster went to as a neutral? I can't even remember the last non Antrim match I was at.

With the tickets each county are given i'd say they wont take thruppence on the gate. But I'd give any money to see my county there on Saturday.

well squeezed out of the way, well done Nicky Brennan and Christy Cooney, thanks for promoting hurling.

The great irony of this is that those 2 Presidents were hurling men and yet it was Sean Kelly who is from a football county who did the most as President to promote these competitions

I work most Saturdays so Neutral games in Croke Park are a no for me.

Last couple of games i attended as a neutral were Limerick v Waterford in Thurles last summer and Limerick v Wexford in the football qualifier in Portlaoise.

2 good games that were well worth attending.

I go to as many neutral games as I can. I'd like to go to the triple header on Sat but I had already committed to something else. If I was free on Saturday I'd be there.

The 2 upcoming leinster semis are really whetting my appetite as a neutral - I'll be at both please God

Crazy ticket price.

You can watch Cork Kerry from the terrace for €10 or pay pay €20 to watch Clare Limerick which will be a meaningless match in the context of the football championship.

With the exception of provincial and All-Ireland finals you should always be able to go and watch a match from the terrace for a tenner. They seem to have got the message in Cork, fair play. Makes the situation in Croke park this week all the more stupid

I went to both All-Ireland finals in 2010 and the Football final in 2011 as a neutral.

You can actually get a stand ticket for the Limerick Clare game on Saturday night for €10, if you buy through your club: well done to Munster Council for that. And it's not a "meaningless" match for the players and loyal football supporters in both counties. Using your logic, there would be no need to play the vast majority of games in both the hurling and football championship.

Why not at the game itself

Kelly had a lot of faults , especially his very high opinion of himself , but he was very supportive of Hurling and trying to improve the profile of the games in the weaker counties. Brennan and Cooney only gave lip service to Hurling.

I think they were too quick to take these games off the main calender ie before the AI semi's , which was due to pressure from the bigger counties.

We all want to see our minor teams play in Croke park on the big days before the seniors but I really thought the lads who play for the weaker counties through all their Hurling career with little of no glory deserved their moment in the sun.

I would have thought that loads of posters would go to games as neutrals. Living in Offaly all the major hurling grounds other than Pairc Ui Chaoimh are not much over an hour away. Thurles is unbelievably handy. 45 minutes gets me there.

This year already as a neutral I was at

Cork vs Kilkenny (League Final)
Tipperary vs Kerry (Munster Football)
Tipperary vs Limerick (Munster Hurling)
Dublin vs Laois (Leinster Hurling)

Obviously I'll be attending all the Offaly games and I'm really looking forward to Kilkenny vs Dublin in Portlaoise. 4/1 is great odds on a Dublin win.

I was all set to go to Clare and Limerick in the football this evening aswell (Dont Ask!!!) but our club seniors have a league match vs Shinrone so needless to say that takes precedence!!

It's handier for Offaly lads! I used to go to matches all over the country, would have driven to league finals, Munster championship matches, Leinster Finals, Club semis and Finals etc from Antrim. I have fallen out of the habit of it the past few years, cost is one big factor - fuel a lot more expensive, time, entry fees, also back door system has taken the 'big match' experience away. All Ireland finals would be my neutral games now. 25euro for the Ring, Rackard and Meagher finals seems a bit pricey.

Ya I know. Was listening to it on the iphone and seemed very exciting. Fair play to Clare, I hope they give Cork a game. And Kinnitty were beaten by 4 points in the league game aswell so all in all it didn't work out for me.

I see on tickets.ie there is a hurling heaven ticket which gives entry to the quarter finals and the two semi finals all for €80. The Croke Park seats I was offered were in Section 308 Row LL which isn't bad at all. It's something I'll probably purchase

Used to go the a fair few Munster championship games in the 90's along with lads from the club, but as you say, the backdoor has taken the edge of these games, so'd prefer to save the derv for other journeys.
