Prime country in Limerick would be around the triangle of Pallasgreen, Kilteely and Knockane.
You wouldn't want to be knocking around there with a canoe and a guitar!

Yea maybe Kinvara or worse again Carna!
But definitley this is the most off the wall thread about "a movie set in the deep south of America"

If they did film a remake in Ireland it could start a trend to remake more movies in the Emerald Isle.

Covering Cork and almost Limerick here, I know a few people who are far from being city slockers or even townies who regard the area around Tullylease as a place of duelling banjos and toothless men.

The triangle formed by Gneeveguilla, Ballydesmond and Knocknagree - has a river, a wealth of musicians and a dearth of teeth.

Whatever about Ireland, they're would be parts of Australia where the sheep know the score. In the 1980's and 90 Australian movies that were made seemed eerliy realistic.

I knew some lads from Knocknagree in college, that was certainly the most "rural" accent I've ever come across, lads in their late teens early 20s and you'd have to concentrate to figure out what they were saying.
