Think I would take a score draw if it was given to us now as it will probably be the only game where we will have a degree of attacking possession.

A point tomorrow should hopefully be enough to ensure that we have something to play for going into the last game. A one off game against Italy with Trap and anything could happen.

Fingers crossed!!

I think Ireland will try to play as Denmark did today, very tight at the back and hopefully catch them on the break. Great result for the Danes and a superb performance by Daniel Agger that could secure him a move to a big club after the Euros

With displays like tonight I can't see a big club coming in for Nani no matter how much he wants away.

Anyway back to the important one.

Would love to see Ireland get something out of tomorrows match, but I have my doubts, some people really are underestimating Croatia, they are a very good side and they would fully expect not just to beat us but to also make a good dent in the goal difference table in case they need it to qualify.

I suppose the best result for us in the other match is a big win for Spain, this is going on the theory that Spain are going to top the group and the rest of us will be fighting for 2nd spot , so the worse they both do in their other matches the better for us.

Totally disagree. There is no way Ireland can play like Denmark today. The commentators were saying that it was a bit like Chelsea and Barca which is a joke. Holland had most of the chances and most of the ball but Denmark when they had the ball passed it around and kept it really well and I always felt they could threaten the Dutch defence.

By the way I know Van Persie had a bad day but why was he wearing 16 and Kuyt no 7. How is Kuyt actually in the squad?

An absolute shambles from the Dutch who do shambles like no other. The game they absolutely needed to win and they start with De Jong and von Bommell in midfield, two players who would not create nor score a goal if they were there from now until the end of the tournament. They leave their top scorer on the bench and then finally when they bring him on they take off Affelay who had been their best player and the one most likely to supply Hunterlaar with a goal scoring opportunity. Robben has had a very poor season by his standards and it continued tonight, he has to be one of the most wasteful and greedy players to ever play the game. The Dutch are also woeful at the back, Germany will rip them to shreads.

When Ireland play against Croatia, a team with a 4-2-3-1 formation, we cannot use the same tactics Denmark used today to cancel out a Dutch team with a similar formation. Denmark also play 4-2-3-1 and Zimling and Kvist were excellent today protecting the back 4 and closing the space that Sneijder would occupy. Our 4-4-2 has been exposed by quality teams who play 4-2-3-1.
Ourselves and England seem obsessed with this formation which probably explains the reason why England have been exposed and destroyed in recent tournaments.

Are you saying Ireland are incapable of playing like the Danes did or are you suggesting they will approach it another way? I would be deligted with a performance and a result similar to Denmarks.

Think the point he's making is that Ireland don't have the capabilities to pass the ball and control things like the Danes did. Despite being all at sea early on, after they score they played some lovely football whilst still skating thin ice.

Agger & Simon Kjar were both very solid at the back, even Bentdner looked good & held the ball up well.

For the Dutch I thought Afellay looked lively for a fella that has missed so much through injury, talks that Barca could let him go for a smallish fee, cutting their losses.

Looking forward to the pints this evening while watching it. Only part of it I expect I'll enjoy. 94% telling Bill that we're going to qualify from the group. Some mass delusion out there. But they say miracles do happen!
The fact that Russia looked real quality the other day should give us some encouragement. Still I expect the best we'll get today is a draw and I think it will take a very good performance from us to even get that.

Pity we didn't draw Spain in the first match, they look fierce rusty. We might have come out of it with a draw. I imagine they will be a different kettle of fish in the 2nd match.

Shouldn't have to worry about Balotelli playing against us, at the rate he is going he will be suspended come the 3rd match day.

Traditionally we've started well in major tournaments but in all due respect to this squad I can't see us winning one. Hope to fcuk I'm wrong. Great to see us here and looking forward to the game today.
