Couldn't get over the size of the Clare lads on Sunday, especially the level of lower body strength work.

Actually quite a short team but nearly every one of them built like a bullock.

Dara Moloney said in commentary that on average each Clare player has put on 1 stone since pre-season. Any truth in that?

Either way, it has reached professionalism in its standards.

Didn't he joke it was all muscle. They did look very powerful for young lads.

Anyone know who's responsible for strength and conditioning with Clare?

Joe O Connor.
He was with Davy in Waterford too.

the clare lads are big alright but its been a bit overhyped.alot of them like conlon dillon are 22 23 now.waterford we as strong.the galway team with an equally as young a team as clare are bigger.however no young hurler in the country compares to liam rushe a monster put him beside any of the clare lads an hed dwarf them

They have done savage training and conditioning but I wonder was it all to their detriment for this season in the liogn run? There was no doubt we got blown out of it in championship games the last 2 seasons, most notably against Dublin in 2010 and Galway last year. But now physically we are beginning to match up and that sort of work takes its toll.

Have Galway stepped it up conditioning wise?

They got blown out of it by Waterford & Kevin Moran last year

We still started a lad who was only with the panel for a month!
So i am not quite sure how that can be reconciled with the notion that lads need to have Nov/Dec done in the gym and heavy training in Jan Feb also.
Sometimes wonder does all the strength and conditioning take away from a lads natural hurling ability.I guess its all about getting the balance right.

We know from hiw time with Waterofrd that Davy gets mad notions into his head. Thats not going to change coach. Dont understand these things personally.

County panels have been and always will be like that. Eaten bread is soon forgotten. The guy that is in form for the club or U21 can sneak in in the month approaching the next championship game, despite having missed all the slog.
