The old Tralee Parnells Clubs won Senior Hurling Championships titles in 1918, 1919 and 1924, players at the time included John Joe Sheehy and Jack McCarthy.

The current club will first field an under 14 team and will compete in various competitions over the next few months. The club is based in Caherslee  and training is held for 13 and 14 year  old on Fridays at 7pm.

There are seven clubs involved with Tralee Parnell's - Austin Stacks, John Mitchel's, Na Gaeil, Kerins O' Rahillys, Ballymac, Churchill and St Pats Blenerville. Tralee Parnell's will work with the clubs to help promote hurling in the Tralee area and will also develop the club itself to eventually compete at all age groups.

Tralee Parnells are currently recruiting Under 13 and Under 14 players as well as Club Volunteers.

Great news.

If a proud Hurling County like Tipperary can promote football then its great to see Kerry men & women promoting Hurling as well.

Wishing Tralee Parnells every sucess in this project.

Tralee was a town with a hurling tradition but it was left die. All the 8 senior clubs in rural north kerry are just outside the town so plenty of hurling near them There was a time when austin stacks had a good senior hurling team. Just field a junior team now and havent a single juvenile team and havent had for years.

The Na Gaeil club has had under 12 teams the last 2 seasons and now this new club is starting up to cater for the other football clubs in the town. Its a positive step. A good number of tralee town players have played under age hurling with the rural clubs in north kerry because there was no club in tralee town doing the hurling so there should be potential for this club.

The great John Joe Sheehy found time to play hurling with tralee parnells and munster as well as win all ireland football medals and fight a war of independence. Thats was donkeys years ago i know!!!! but right up to the 1970s there was a tradition of good footballers in tralee playing club hurling also.
