Tried to get fixtures on clare gaa but no luck. I presume its still on. The Bridge and clarecastle would be favourites to won this id imagine.

The B is fixed then for Friday the 6th will this be still on seen as the munster final is on 9 days later does any one know?

who would be favourites for this I think theres 2 groups of 5 in this. not sure of the groups though.

Good win for da Townies
How county players go O'Donnell, Deacy, Leary & Lynch ?
Would Leary be far off the county team ?

O Donnell scored 3:5 ,all very good scores to be fair. Caught rake of high balls. They were all scored in 2nd half..won a few frees and got one of their corner backs sent off after being fouled twice by him and got yellow both times. Soft enough red to fair just before half time and Ballyea were 9-7 up going in at the break.

Deasy had a very good first half . He scored most of Ballyeas points , he was on frees too. he went quiet in 2nd like most of the Ballyea players.
O'Leary didnt have a great game, cant see him making a breakthrough on the county team.

Eire Og will take a lot of confidence out of this game, but cant see them challenging the big teams like Clarecastle and the Bridge

Ballyea have a lot of work to do. Not strong at the back and seem to rely on Deasy and O'Leary

Good to see O'Donnell getting a few points never seems to go for them at intercounty either goes straight for goal or lays off but rarely wastes ball.
Hard to see anyone touching the bridge with magpies their biggest challengers.
Nathan Murray is turning his attention to a soccer career with Limerick FC i hear, he ll be a loss along with Dylan Casey who is heading over to Leicester City next week on a 2 year contract. Both would probably made the county minors next year but best of luck to both and im sure the gates at Clonroadmore will always be open to them should they decide to return.

I went to clarecastle and newmarket game soggy ground.

finished sixmilebridge 4.12 inis cealtra 0.13 irish hitman.

PLEASE NOTE no minor games this friday the 6th of july seen as clare minors in munster final bit of a joke if you ask me 9 days is plenty of time for them to rest and get what ever needs to be done. looks like now it wont be played until after munster final i wreckon it will be on the monday after the munster final which is the 16th of july so some dual players may well be expected to play minor hurling monday minor football wednesday and minor hurling again friday doesnt seem fair.

IH, Who was centre back for the Townies?

He was fairly impressive, especially in the 2nd half, even if he's not the tallest hurler in the county.

Great bit of stuff,

The center back for Eire og was Liam corry. Hes a great hurler. He is normally a forward but seems to be turning into a back this year. I don't know how he is not on the Clare Minors as he absolutely cleaned Niall Deasy last nite.

Thanks John - yeah, he hurled the socks off the entire half forward line in the 2nd half.

The centre forward, who is probably too small for the position, isn't afraid to put himself about is he? If he had a bit more confidence he'd not be bad at all. Hopefully, practise will develope him.

In fact, I'd see great tussles between himself and Mr Corry.

There are eight games to be played in the group section of minor A and after one game we now have most of the players sitting around while Clare are still involved in the Munster championship/qualifiers.
I don't even know if we will have a round even if Clare win the Munster final[unlikely, given the display of Tipp v Waterford]
This to my mind is lunacy.
The sooner the GAA in general, and Clare in particular, get rid of this idiotic practice the better.
Top professional sportsmen play massive games in tournaments every 4 or 5 days. There are fortunes involved in financial terms, yet teams have to get on with it regardless of injury or fatigue. And don't give me the line that we are amateur and havent the resources to replace players.
If every county plays its club and inter-county games hand in hand, then its a level playing field and all are at equal risk.
Judging by what I witnessed at a minor champ game yesterday, there are players well capable of being added to the panel, some of whom were better than panellists on view.
And no I didnt see either Clarecastle or The Bridge who are both very strong, there are a few good lads in other parts of the county also.

well by all accounts clarecastle v newmarket was a very high intensity game with a lot good displays from playuers not on county minor panel. talking to a man today said it was one of the most enjoyable and competive games he was at in a long time.

Thats not a surprise with non county minors playing well When you hold trials in winter months in cold conditions certain type of player will excel. A completely different type of player may excel once ground dries out .

In Galway for example Mattie Murphy will always put more emphasis in scouting at club matches rather than just concentrating on 2/3 trial matches in dec. He told us last year at a coaching forum that he would have seen 80+ club matches in 2011 other than matches his own club were involved in . He would also have a small group of trusted lieutenants who would continously monitor form of club minors so they are always up to speed on players.

In a lot of other counties they pick a panel in nov/dec and normally proceed with the bulk of those lads through summer thus missing out on a few potential top players.

I guess its up to each individual manager as to what way they play it.

Though your initial point as regards lads shining in nov/dec and not so much to the fore in summer months and visa versa is valid, it is not as easy for other counties to adopt the same approach as Mattie Murphy. The main reason being, the Clare minors have played three inter county games for their county prior to the club championship beginning thus not allowing management to monitor club form.
