The consensus will probably be that Daly will now leave Dublin, though I think he might be tempted to stay on one year to prove that Dublin are a better team than they showed this year. Probably though it's time for a fresh voice. I'm sure Antrim or Laois would only love to have him, but would he fancy the slog of slowly building up a team from a low level all over again? I don't see many other county manager positions becoming free next season, I reckon we'll see Daly taking a break from the intercounty manager scene for a while, might take up a seat on the RTÉ panel again.

Dublin shown up as pampered, overrated charlatans in the end, not Dalo's fault, them City lads were always soft behind it all, look what Kilkenny did to them the last few times when they were serious about it, annihilation. Hurling is a mans game, Dublin should stick to the football and soccer

I know Laois have a manager but when the vacancy occurs Daly would be a high profile man to get them all pulling together for the county.

I cant imagine Daly will want a long distance job next time round. Depending on how long John Allen is in Limerick, he could end up there next

Antrim had an article in the Examiner on Friday where they stated they want a Manager rather than specifically a Trainer. He could be a match made in heaven for them and the first thing that would happen is that every hurler in Antrim would probably want to play if he was in charge.
I have a theory that the optimum time for a manager is three years because players need a new voice. Notable exceptions being Ferguson Cody etc. but these are bringing silverware.
Has Daly reached the end of the road in Dublin though??? I would say that a job like that takes an awful lot out of someone though, and the longer you go without tangible championship success, the more pressure you put on yourself. He has had rotten luck with injuries, and will feel that he might have got more from them with an injury free season.

Daylo is a very honest man who like a good deal of his fellow countrymen have hit on hard times right now. They delivered the goods for us when they were young men and we all shouted them on in Croke Park. For those of us not hurting in life how about doing a bit of payback.Pretty sure Daylo might be hurtin if the Dub job goes west.

I'd say the next Limerick manager will be a limerickman.

Fully agree, except Cody and Harte the only exceptions I can think of. Ferguson can change the dressing room - getting rid of Keane, Robson, Ince, Beckham, Cole, Stam, Sharp etc etc when he thought they might undermine him.

No way! He has done a terrible job with Dublin, he won't get a manager job with any county now.

There are plenty suitable.
Also, I have always thought Pat Fleury (offaly obviously but In Limerick a long time)would do a great Job as Limerick manager. Perhaps it's 5 years too late for him, still, he commands huge respect.

I dont think anybody could have done much more. Dublin just dont have the hurlers. To win a league was an achievement in itself

There are plenty of Limerick men suitable, but I would love to see Pat given a chance. It won't happen, but he would do a great job.

Funnily enough he was only just edged out for the job before by your man Smiley MCarthy..

Anthony Daly did not build Dublin up from a low level, Tommy Naughton did.
Dublin certainly progressed more quickly after Daly took over. An All-Ireland Champion can have that effect on a team. However he built on the work of Tommy Naughton, who took a second division team who almost found themselves in the Christy Ring cup, and turned them into a competitive mid first division team.
Daly will let himself down if he walks out on a relegated dejected squad. He should give it one more year and try to redeem himself.
That the main problem is lies between the ears is probably correct. Dublin seem to need to be 15% better than their opponents to avoid defeat. The talent is certainly there, even if the belief & application isn't. McCrabbe's collapse in form is startling. A few years ago he couldn't miss if he tried, now he struggles to get anything on target.

Personally I'd prefer a Dub or an All-Ireland winner. You're better off in the long run if you pick yourself up. An All-Ireland winner can make all the difference in the world though.
Nicky English lives in Dublin & knows the scene.

I've heard Ian Brown and John Squire have been approached to both manage the Limerick hurlers in 2013. Can anyone confirm.
