Now as we know the game is on in Thurles. Its time for single thread about the game.Likely team lineouts and what Davy will be send to the Stand for.

Its great to see Limerick and Clare returing to the big time again. In the Past few Years Clare Senior Hurling was on Hoildays this time of the year.In the next few years we'll here alot more about both teams. With all the underage talent in Limerick and talent that clare have at the moment.(Not as much as Limerick have)

Starting 15.
Downes is fit again now,Hannon is fit.Hickey fit Breen should be fit and 60/40 on Browne.Allis Out.
I cant See Geary Starting this game. With the pace Clare have Davy would pick him out.

If Everybody is fit(Bar Allis)there is a few places that will be hard to pick.
(i)Where to play Hickey? Bring hin in at 6.Or Leave Dodge there and bring Hickey to Midfield

(ii)Bring in Downes or not?Myself Niall has played very well and should start at 14.

So My Team would be.

N.Quiad
S.Walsh
R.McCarthy
T.Condon
W.McNamara
D.O'Grady
G.O'Mahony
J.Ryan
P.Browne
D.Breen
D.Hannon
S.Dowling
G.Mulcahy
N.Moran
S.Tobin

Hickey on the bench i think i'm gone mad.But having a player like Hickey to come off the bench is a massive bonus. Also Downes.two players that would make many starting 15 in the Country.

But its Limerick and Clare and its going to be a 20 man game.We can bring Hickey,Downes,Geary,Moloney,O'Brien's off the bench and Clare can bring alot of very good young players off their bench.Maybe thats where they game will be won.

limerick by 4 points!!

It is still the qualifiers , only the winners from next weekend can say they are back in the big time.

We can't be devaluing the championship by giving Big time status to every tom, dick and harry.

Since the other thread is 5 pages talking about the venue I'll chip in here Billy!

I think that's likely to be the team Billy, if Browne is fit. I think Hickey would have to be playing very impressively in training to force his way in, unless Browne is out and Hickey replaces him. Downes is a tough one too. If he' on form in training I'd start him for Tobin. I know that's very harsh on Tobin but Downes has more x factor about him and I think we need to make the best possible start. Tobin would make a great impact sub coming on for Moran with Downes shifting in to full forward at 50 mins. I'd be surprised if Geary starts anywhere and I wouldn't like to see him come on, I'm a huge Geary fan but unless he's in form at 6 he shouldn't come in elsewhere, and I don't think he has raised the required level of form this year.

Yerra Blanco it's big time for us where we've been coming from, let the small fish have their day in the sun!

From a Limerick point of view I still worry about our full back line & think there is a few goals there for Clare. Our forwards are "possibly" better than their counterparts but there wont be much in it.
Prediction Limerick 2-18 Clare 4-12

Parmenion you do realise that prediction is a draw? There would be extra time I can only presume to seperate the teams

I'd say the same but would have been confident our forwards were a significantly better set to pull us through... until the addition of Honan and Kelly!

Paul Browne is injured for the year.
Thomas O Brien is the most likely to start in midfield with James Ryan

Davy Fitz had plenty to say about Limerick and James Ryan in particular after the league final.... The fans, myself included, are probably preoccupied with Davy Fitz and his antics. Hopefully the management will have the team focused on what goes on between the white lines only.

From a Limerick point of view I'd keep the teamsheet under wraps until the throw-in. Tell the players during the week and no-one else. Name a dummy team with Conor Allis and Paul Browne in it if necessary, we will need every small advantage we can over Clare.

We've improved enormously since the league final. But then so have Clare. Championship games take on a life of their own so anything can happen, as we saw yesterday.

Keep Graeme Mulcahy and Seanie Tobin in near goal. Bringing Mulcahy - in particular - out the field has cost us against Clare and Tipp this season already. He has the pace and the hurling for nearly every corner back in the game, feed the ball in and it'll be a surprise if he doesn't do damage.

5 days away and I'm nervous already. Will be an almighty battle.

Promises to be a real cracker for sure.I think the forecast is for rain the weekend. Our game is on last so the field should be fairly muddy and cut up underfoot. These scuttery conditions should suit limerick better and should help to keep them in the game a bit longer and prevent clare running away with it early on.All in all it will be a worthwhile run out for clare and should hold us in good stead for our upcoming quarter final against kilkenny.

Don't think Wayne Mc deserves to be dropped yet and Thomas Ryan has hardly played his way in. Niall Moran is not and never was a centre forward, I think he has cemented his spot at full forward with Downes to come in for the last 20 or starting in the corner and shifting in to full later in the game. Hickey at midfield would be interesting.

steady on billy. this is not the big time. its a round 2 or round 3 qualifier. both teams couldnt win their 1st first round munster championship match and havent been able to for a while. limerick have beaten 2 teams that should be in the christy ring and clare just beat a dublin team in its worst spell of form for 6 years. both teams are going the right direction but back in the big time might be a bit premature. i would say galway are back in the big time after the weekend. clare and limerick have a bit to go yet. the winner might get a chance to say they are back in the big time if they win the QF afterwards which could well be a clash with Kilkenny!

Limerick to win of course.

There is no way that Wayne Mc will be dropped.
Thomas Ryan no way he will start.Give him another year or so and he might make the team.

I think Limerick are now fit enough to last the full 70 minutes with Clare. In the 2 league meetings, Limerick were comfortably in the lead but collapsed in the final quarter. The same happened against Tipperary.

The players need to believe that they are fantastic and they should expect to win major trophies.

2012 is the year.

Is it certain that if Clare win on Sat that they will be playing KK , I know people are saying this assuming that Waterford lose on Sunday and then Clare can not meet them as they have already played each other.

But I think that restriction is now gone and only provincial finalists can not meet each other, therefore Clare could meet Waterford again if Waterford lose on Sunday.

I would actually concur with Billy. I guess I would be against making any changes right now - it was hard to learn anything in the two games against Antrim and Laois. Tinkering with the forwards could be done - Downes could be slotted in. I'd be against making changes in the backs though. The big question is the Séamus Hickey question. With Browne ruled out, the return of Dodge to midfield and Hickey to centre-back is a possibility but Hickey going straight in at 6 having not seen full-blooded action this year is a gamble. The game is a tough one to call. Clare have already achieved their goals for the year, whereas Limerick haven't really achieved any, if they are honest with themselves, so there is probably slightly more pressure on us.

Gonna miss this match now as I'm working Saturday evening. So my plan is to sky + the match, try not to hear the result and watch it after my shift (which ends at midnight). Will be strange watching a match at that time but wouldn't be able to sleep if I didn't. Wish me luck haha.

With regards to the result, I'm really finding it hard to call this one. Really interested to see how Limerick react when put under pressure for a full 70 minutes and see if they were able to learn anything from the Laois and Antrim matches. What I do know for sure is that it has the makings of an epic game. LUIMNEACH ABÚ!!!

No Blanco according to the rule book teams that have met already cannot meet in qtr finals if it can be avoided.

Not sure how accurate it is but found this if it's any help:

Wonder will Davy stick with the same team as the last day? Maybe Pat O Conner should start after his fine display the last day and has Cooney recovered from that injury he picked up anyone know?

What sorta injury does Enda Barrett have? Will he be fit and If he's fit he should start ahead of Lynch. He caught a rake of high balls from puck outs in the League Final against. He had a great game that day.

I think we should stick the same apart from that.. Maybe leave Nicky o Connell in the middle of the field and Morey at wing back. Wouldnt like to see O Connell wing back on Hannon or Dowling
