whats the story with Tipp Lad Lynch?

hoaxer or one of the unluckiest sportspersons you could meet?. Cian O Connor is on the standby list....jesus wept !, t'wud remind you of the cycling.

The Horse was effected by Hypersensitivity !!! tis like something you would hear Limerick supporters suffering from every time they hear Davy Fitz's name mentioned.

The horse obviously has a drug problem , I don't see why the jockey should suffer as a result.

I agree with the original poster, this seems at least strange. anyone here got info on this, is it politics or something else. I am surprised it is not higher profile.Am I right in saying that hypersensitivity has been induced in the past by deliberate bruising of the animals shins to cause it to raise its legs higher from fear?

Yes, hypersensitivity can be induced, many ways.... chemicals that burn an make the skin sensitive, putting sharp objects in the horse's bell boots, rapping with poles etc.
It can also come about naturally, i.e if a horse strikes and injures itself, either during the course of competition or training, the area around the injury, even if minor, will be more sensitive for while. Also, some horses are naturally 'thin-skinned', and are more sensitive than others.

However, this is the THIRD one of Lynch's horses to have failed a hypersensitivity test in the last 12 months.
So, draw your own conclusions. Maybe he is just really unlucky.
Horse Sport Ireland are the ones that had the horse withdrawn, so they are taking no chances and are probably fed up with the black eyes Irish showjumping has had at this point.

What's the big deal? At least 30% of the 60+ competetors we are sending over will either be on or are coming down from some sort of concoction, accept it and move on.

Controversy seems to gravitate towards show jumping like flies to sh!te.

Athletics seems to be another sport that the only time it gets news if there is some fcuk up, like the current 4 x 400m women's relay selection. How somebody managed to fcuk that up I don't know. Are there not procedures for selecting the team?

Most people I speak to are hoping the Olympics just pass without some controversy and that the sooner it is over the better.

Why is this even an Olympic sport?
If animals are considered valid competitors of the Olympics, then greyhound racing should be allowed as an Olympic sport.

Ok, that says a lot, while I have you what is the story with Cian O Connor , is he back and fully redeemed now, and what about Jessica Kurten? have we any medal chances, sorry to be so newsy but I am of the Eddie Macken generation where Show Jumping was one of the most watched events in Ireland and my interest in, if not my following of, the sport remains.

Cian O'Connor is Tony O'Reilly's godson, Ireland Team Manager Robert Splaine was O'Reilly's retained rider for years. Cian didn't qualify on his own merits, and Ireland failed to qualify as a team (Lynch finished top of the individual qualification standings).

Splaine and Lynch have history - various rows, one of which led to Lynch being told he had to compete in an event where team qualification was on the line even though he had broken ribs, otherwise his selection for the Olympics "would have to be considered" even though he had qualified on his own merits.

They are now in the process of deliberating on a replacement: Wonder who they'll pick???

The Olympic Council of Ireland have confirmed that show jumper Cian O'Connor is to take Denis Lynch's place in the Olympics.

Is he the same Cian O'Connor who had his gold stripped for drugs cheating?

Things look a little fishy alright.
