I was delighted to galway win on Sunday. Brilliant hurlers produced in galway and they are dues an All ireland. What makes me laugh is the hype that sorrunds a team that has Choked year after year because they beat Kilkenny. Galway are ALWAYS capable of beating Kilkenny every year. Most years they do not but this year they did.
What happens next?
Kilkenny to win the next 3 games by an average of 8 points to claim 2 in a row.
Galway to choke in the semi final regardless who they meet.
Waterford, Cork Tipp kilkenny are still better teams than Galway and when galway play one of these teams next they will lose. (Bare in mind that this is an average Waterford team along with Cork).

This is just my opinion?

Yawn yawn...you must try a little harder. As WUMS go it lacks a bit of subtlety! You can keep your bran flakes...these Galway lads will be eating their Weetabix coming up to games just like they did last Sunday!!!

Sadly this is not a YUM.

After Waterford I would absolutely love to see the Galway GAA community have Liam McCarthy back in their homeland as Galway has given us and is still giving the most gifted hurlers in the land.

But when it comes to chokers galway are champions everytime Im afraid. We will see this in 2012 again similar especially to 2005 dead duck display after the KK game..

Th irony of anybody from Waterford accusing another county of choking is hilarious

Butterfly speaks the truth and we Galwegians know this. However we are capable of performances like last Sunday that only a Tipp or Cork side could produce. Fortunately I'd be pretty certain that Anthony Cunningham and his back room staff are well aware of our regular complacent attitude.

Considering the talent at out disposal the second tiered hurling counties should be praying that Galway don't become a dominant power in the game

Years are playing tricks with your memory BF. Galway put up a decent show in 2005. 2008 was the famous dead duck display.
"If you don't know me, don't judge me"!!! By God Dan, a lot of people judged you that day!!

I'll eat my hat if Galway get within a asses roar of the All Ireland, these bottlers always come out of no where and turn in one huge performance once every 4 or 5 years and then promptly sh1t themselves when it really matters

What Galway have I hope at last realised is what KK realised under BC along time ago, that winning is not really relevant. It is the performance which is relevant. If they perform to the best of their abilities, or at least fight as hard as they can in any game, the result is secondary and will look after itself one way or another. I am not too bothered whether they win or not to be honest as long as they give all they have. There is no shame then in losing, and against a decent side it can go one way or another on any day. Losing to KK is not choking. Not fighting for it is. I do not believe that this Galway panel will lie down for anyone. They have given everything anyone could ask of them so far, and more.

Ireland pushed NZ all the way a few weeks back then a week later got hammered by 60. Play kk enough times and somebody's ship will come in and will beat them, but one swallow never made a summer and all that.

Only time will tell if things are changing.

Would love to see a Clare, limerick, offaly, Wexford era come about again like in the 1990's.

Even if it was with a few different counties like Galway, Dublin and Waterford.

Was waiting for someone to mention this! Ireland keeping within two points of the all blacks is not the same as the utter decimation of kilkenny by galway!!!

This post has been noted, just in case galway do continue to progress, i can offer you various condiments to go with your hat - ketchup, piri piri, brown sauce, maye etc etc

I'd settle for a huge performance like last sunday every couple of years, when was your lots last huge performance?

I was waiting for a thread like this to appear. How're things redlead?

Maybe Kilkenny will go on and win there next games by an average of 8 points, but surely to god this young Galway team deserves credit and respect for demolishing this Kilkenny team.

Don't be so bad-minded there Clare boy! It is great to see your bad mind and jealousy of your neighbours but Galway will continue to bring silverware across the Shannon as ye continue to get hammered in finals like the football last Sunday. Galway hurlers may lose the next day but we already have silverware unlike ye. So much for Galway being chokers but keep em coming -we love it!

I know the OP is fishing but Galway do have a huge history of choking after huge performances like after the Cork game last year. Personally, I would rather see Galway win an AI more than anyone else, after Waterford of course, but the hype surrounding them never fails to amaze me. Yes Galway have beaten Kilkenny and I give them great credit for it, but until they put back to back performances together, they cannot be considered AI contenders. Bookies are giving them the same chance as Tipp which i just feel isn't right yet. Hopefully they show a bit of consistency and beat their semi-final opponenents (as long as it's not us)as it can only be good for the game in general.

Galway are All-contenders now whether they or even you like it. They are in an All-Ireland semi-final. If you are not a contender at that stage then what are you? I imagine they are on the same odds as Tipp as Tipp still have to play a Munster final and there is a good chance they will meet Kilkenny in the semis after that.

Remind us of the score in the only final Waterford have managed to reached in nearly 60 years bran flake (or redlead if you prefer)? Ah yes KK 3 - 30 WD 1 - 13. That is some level of "b***s" and "tenacity" shown by your home county alright. It is laughable that the 2 posters talking most about "choking" and "bottling" happen to be from 2 of the most prominent counties that should know all about that - Clare and Waterford! Going by most of the posts here the badmind / sour grapes does seem to be a Munster thing in general. By the way I heard Cunningham uses these types of posts as ammunition / motivation to keep the players feet firmly on the ground like before the KK - Galway game so thanks for that.

I hope they dont because I have always been a fan of Galway hurling and its supporters especially in their golden period from 85-90. The only supporter I could not stand was the Galway lord mayor in 86.

Of course Galway have it still all to do and they might find it hard to replicate that performance the next day, but they have produced it in a championship match against kk. There's nothing to suggest anyone bar tipp can do likewise therefore until there is those three are the only real contenders for the all Ireland. This is based on performance, teams can reach semis regularly but never be real contenders, guess who I'm talking about.

They are Semi-Finalists, nothing more yet. They have not put 2 back to back performances together in years, never mind 3. Hopefully they can put previous years' form to bed and get to an AI final.

Never took that into consideration with the odds. Will be interesting to see how they go should Waterford win the weekend and Tipp be put into Galway's side of the draw.
