The draws for the quarter-finals of the GAA Hurling Championship and for rounds three and four of the football qualifiers will be made on Morning Ireland on Monday morning next.
The hurling draw will be made at 7.30am and the football draws at 8.30am. Both will be available on RTÉ Radio 1 on all platforms and the draws will also be streamed live via www.rte.ie
Hurling Quarter-final draw
This will see one of the beaten provincial finalists (Kilkenny and the loser of the Waterford/Tipperary Munster final) being drawn to play against a Phase III Winner (i.e. the winners of this weekend’s Limerick v Clare and Cork v Wexford games)
The draw is subject to the avoidance of Repeat Pairings, where feasible.
Potential pairings that have already happened and cannot happen again are:
Waterford v Clare; Tipperary v Cork; Tipperary v Limerick
Football Qualifier Draws
Round 3 and Round 4
The Round 3 draw will see the eight winners from this weekend’s Round 2 games drawn to play against each other in the four Round 3 ties, which are due to take place on Saturday, July 21st. The first team drawn in each tie are entitled to home advantage. The teams involved will be the winners of Wicklow/Leitrim, Galway/Antrim, Tyrone/Roscommon, Monaghan/Laois, Wexford/Tipperary
Kildare/Cavan, Longford/Limerick and Kerry/Westmeath.
The 4th round draw will pair the winners of each of the 3rd Round games (above) against one of the beaten Provincial Finalists (Clare, Sligo/Mayo, Down/Donegal, Dublin/Meath). The 4th Round games are scheduled to take place on the weekend of July 28.
Repeat pairings can happen in the football draw.

Cheers for that, imagine it takes a bit of the confusion out of it for people, with the usual are rematches avoided, or wasn't that changed, etc.

Why are these draws taking place on a Monday morning and not on Sunday.
Are the logistics of getting a few plastics ball into a bowl after the live games on RTE on Sunday too much for the GAA to manage

So regardless of tomorrow's result there will be a draw for the hurling quarters

I'd imagine so. As both Limerick and Cork have played Tipp, the result in the Munster final will give both teams an indication of where they both stand.

From a Limerick perspective, it doesn't matter. Either Tipp or Waterford would be fine to meet in the QF.
Limerick would expect to defeat either team. Waterford would be percieved as the weaker team but either would be fine.

Repeat pairings should not be allowed in football. Full Stop. There are enough of teams in the hat to be able to prevent them. I cant understand why the GAA rectify these matters for a few years, and then turn around and press the reset button again. There is no logic to it.
Repeat pairings are not allowed in hurling and rightly so, but the irony is that if Waterford spring a surprise tomorrow, we will be guaranteed a repeat pairing, as Tipperary will have to meet either Limerick or Cork again in a Quarter Final.

They should be waiting until after the provincial finals are finished to make the draw for Round 4. Let the Leinster and Ulster finalists play their matches without having to think about who they're going to have to play if they lose. Makes more sense from a publicity point of view too to do it that way.

The draw will be made after the provincials, just intriguing how the Munster final is going to pan out and what counties will be shouting for who.For the life of me I cannot understand why they cannot have the Draw Sunday evening than waiting until Monday morning at 7.030am, then again that is about 11.30pm Hollywood time, obviously peak viewing.

There obviously must be a marketing angle to it. Copying a little bit from the rugby maybe... drag things out as much as possible to maximize media exposure. When the matches are over at the weekend that's usually the end of it til Thursday or Friday so if they have the draw on a different day they can grab the main headlines for a 2nd day.

So how does the football draw work?
In one pot four provincial losers, (Clare, losers Mayo/Sligo, losers Dublin/Meath and losers Donegal/Down)
In the other pot eight teams?
Tyrone, Antrim, Limerick, Tipp, Leitrim, Kerry/Westmeath, Cavan/Kildare, is there an 8th team?
I assume the other 8 teams play each other first, then 4 winners play the 4 provincial losers?
In that case they can make the draw now as provincial losers still woulnd't know who they are playing?

I am not sure that Kilkenny would beat Cork handy. I would like to think this Cork team would put it up to Kilkenny.

No trouble for Limerick. This Limerick team are one of teh countrys best and shoudl be capable of beating Kilkenny if they are to be showing signs of progress.I fully expect Limerick to beat Kilkenny, if they dont win that match with this great group of players I think it may be time for John Allen to go.

The football draw (first name at home):
Kildare v Limerick (winners play losers of Sligo)
Kerry v Tyrone (winners play Clare)
Tipp v Antrim (winners play Donegal/Down)
Leitrim v Laois ( (winners play Dubs/Meath)
Squeaky bum time for the Kerry boys but there's a handy game then against Clare. Kildare must be considered serious contenders again, good outing yesterday, handy draw against Limerick, Sligo will give them a physical test (as, no doubt will Limerick) so they should be flying, the ba$tards, by the quarter finals. The other 2 matches are just great opportunities for all 4 teams to play deep into the summer but you would have to think that the draw means that will be that for them and that the losing provincial finalists in Leinster and Ulster have a handy enough pick me up in Round 4 of the qualifiers.

Thats no disaster for the Dubs when they lose on Sunday ;)
Kildare will be bouyed by that, they'll definately have a say in how things go in the latter stages.
With the way Kerry and Tyrone are playing you'd wonder would either of them be missed. Have to feel for Clare though having to play one of them though.
Antrim and tipp will be a toughie to call but i'll go out and say Tipp and then lose to Down/Donegal

Waterford will beat a young and inexperienced Cork team
Limerick will feel a Kilkenny backlash.
Kilkenny will beat Tipp in the semi.
Waterford will beat Galway, like they always do.
