If Limerick are to be successful this year, the chances are they will have to play and defeat Kilkenny.
A young skillful team like Limerick will have to prepare for the physical and 'playing on the edge of the rules' game employed by Kilkenny.
A good ref and a well prepared Limerick team, means Limerick would fancy their chances against Kilkenny this year.

If Limerick play with the same intensity as they did for the second half against Clare they have a good chance should they meet Kilkenny. They have the forwards to trouble the Kilkenny backs if they get the kind of fast direct ball they got Saturday evening. As Galway showed last Sunday if you go out and play your own style of hurling at 100% intensity there's no reason to fear anyone.

If Clare had been successful yesterday they would have had to play KK IMO. That would have had the potential to set Clare back badly. It would do the same with Limk so I hope they get Waterford or Cork to let us see how they get on. (They can't meet Tipp)
KKs response will be savage I fear

I think Limerick can't play Cork either.
So will face either Kilkenny or Waterford (if Tipp win)

They cant play Cork. The provincial losers play the teams that come throught the qualifiers. Same as it has been for years. Not hard to understand

Look ...Limerick were nowhere near good enough on last nights performance for the likes of Kilkenny. But there is improvement in Limerick. There is scoring potential. They need to up the intensity big time.
Honestly, Clare would have had no chance against Kilkenny. They're way too green. Limerick are probably better placed to take on Kilkenny.

A Limerick Kilkenny QF would most likely be in Semple? It would be interesting how this would impact Kilkenny.

This Semple stadium you talk about. Is that the one where Kilkenny have won a rake of league finals in over the last few years? Yeah, i'd say KK would hate playing on one of
the finest hurling surfaces in the country.
Yeah we'd really hate that.

I have been reading your posts for a while,do you really mean what you are saying or are you as other posters here just stirring?the contradictions in some of your posts are extraordinary.Yes i'm sure if kk draw Limk they'll sh#t in their pants coming to thurles to play us like with our recent record there not to mention our superb performance last night in dismissing a keen but naive clare team and management.Posting limk to win the all irl in 2012 etc for fu'k sake would you cop on.I have no doubt the players believe they have a chance if a few things go their way but is there any chance you could tone down your enthusism and also when things go wrong tone down your negativity.Posting s**te like we have the best underage talent in the country when clare kk cork galway and more have as many.We have an up and coming team but are far from the finished product.Pls don't ask me to explain the contradictions i have mentioned as if you don't know well i supose i shouldn't be responding to your posts

By the Galway performance, it seemed that refs are now picking Kilkenny up on their foul play and dirty strokes. Also Kilkenny have had an easy route to an AI semi final for years by having to play very weak tams in Leinster.
This is the year where Kilkenny become undone. Liam McCarthy coming home to Limerick in 2012.
1. Kilkenny must play championship outside of Croke Park
2. Kilkenny are at long last being picked up on their fouling.
3. Kilkenny do not have the squad depth that they have had over the last few years.
4. Henry is past it as a half forward. Full forward is what he offers now.
5. After the 2007 AI final, Limerick (if fortunate to be drawn against KK) will be prepared for the dirty Kilkenny strokes.
6. A good ref is required to call up KK on any attempts to play beyond the rules of the game.
7. Kilkenny are used to a soft route to an AI semi. Not this year.

I thought we had gotten rid of all the Happy Losers. It seems there are a few hanging around.
Limerick will win the All Ireland this year. Let's see if we can turn you into a winner, like the Limerick hurling team.

All you need is to run at their back and take them on.Tipp took them on and beat them Galway done and beat them.Limerick have the forwards to take them on and beat them.

Good man ProjX, getting the bi***ing and excuses in early in case Limerick do end up playing Kilkenny. I'll give you the satisfaction and rise to the bait all the same.
Don't know what you're on about regarding the refs and Kilkenny to be honest, refs often call Kilkenny for fouling, in fact Kilkenny's free count is usually lower than the oppositions.
As for the refs calling fouls for the on-the-edge heavy hitting, well Galway hit Kilkenny very hard and occasionally crossed the lines with their physicality last week yet there's hardly a mention of it from Kilkenny. Why? because whats the point of being a little b**** about it, especially when we do the heavy stuff ourselves, what's the point of being a hypocrite like yourself and bawling when it happens to us. It was game of hurling to be won and fair play to Galway, they gave us a lesson last week in tough play and putting the bodies on the line and we're well worth the win.
And I have to say I didn't see any dirty strokes last week at all from either team, just good, tough hitting and hurling.
Kilkenny's path through Leinster in recent years have been easy enough, yet Tipp apart on one occasion, there hasn't been a Munster side that's got within three points of Kilkenny in the last six years. In truth the AI series has been easy enough too.
And this may be the year where the gap between Kilkenny and the rest of the pile might bet smaller or disappear, but as it stands we've only lost one match to a Galway performance that would have beaten anyone. We're still going to be one of the teams to beat for a few years yet. We're hardly, and don't look like being, a county that has come undone.
And Kilkenny could still very well win the AI this year. Something that Limerick, despite the delusions of people like yourself think, won't do THIS year.
And as a response to your points.
1. Kilkenny have been playing outside of Croke Park regularly in the last few seasons.
2. Kilkenny's level of fouling is the same as everyone else's. Look at any championship match this year for proof. Your own county's matches are particularly full of frees.
3. True, but its still a pretty decent squad all the same. Devoid of injuries its probably still the strongest squad in the country.
4. Agree, he doesn't have the pace anymore for HF. But at FF he has the physique, clever movement and intelligence to be very dangerous.
5. 2007 was five years ago. Limerick and Kilkenny have different setups since then, a lot of the Limerick guys have never played Kilkenny. And Limerick are more than being quite capable of dirty strokes themselves.
6. A good ref should do the same for Limerick, or anyone else for that matter. Balanced refereeing is what I assume you're calling for. Balance therefore mean an application of the rules evenly whether, its Kilkenny or not. Calling for refs to referee Kilkenny different to everyone else is calling for biased refereeing.
7. There's no soft route to the AI, there's just the route. Whether that's straight through to the SF, the QF or the qualifiers it makes no difference, the games have to be won. if you're not good enough to win Liam then you're not good enough, simple as. Ultimately its Liam that matters, not the route to get there.

ProjX has the talent to draw posters out - you speak plenty sense here B&A but it must be remembered that the draw that may decide that there will be a KK/Lmk game hasn't even be made yet. Take what he says with a double dose of salt.

I think I will erase my memory of all thoughts about Kilkenny until after the draw is made. It might not even be Kilkenny at all.

Waterford would be a handy draw for Limerick alright.
Still, if Limerick are drawn against Kilkenny, Limerick must focus on winning that tie.
