So this is what the 'glorious' 12th was all about. Just an excuse to provoke and intimidate Catholics. Playing sectarian songs outside an RC church and then attack the man who had the audacity to film it

Can you imagine my shock when I failed to find any reference to this on the RTE website? A cynical person would say that RTE would rather ignore this sort of thing as it only gives validity to those terrible republicans....

Of course, we all know that couldn't possibly be true.

There is only thing more in Ireland that I hate than the catholic church,is the extreme secterianism of those orange "British" people. They think the earth was created 6,000 years ago buy some guy with a big beard, the same people who invaded Iraq.
And as for "Britishness". Most English people regard themselves as English, with the Scots forging ahead for an independent Scotland, tearing up the act of union and possibley making England a new independent country.
Within the island of Britain only Chelsea and Rangers fans regard themselves as "British" and soon within that island to the east of us there might be 2 or 3 soveirgn independent (non British) countries. There is sweet f a of British identity within the island of Britain itself.

How this disgusting bigoted breed of people are allowed march up and down streets where they are not wanted every 12th of July is beyond me. Northern Ireland is a farce of a state, always has been, always will be!

A horrible class of people who belong in the dark ages. Unfortunately I have come across more than one or two of them in my day.

The crazy thing is that the Meejia in this country, cheerled by RTE, want to allow these animals to march down our Capitals main street!! Madness.

They deliberately embrace the controversy because they need the segregation in order to matter. Without it these guys have no reason to exist. This will never go away. This cultural argument is up there with Pikeys rocking up in your field and setting up house.

In fairness to RTE, does this even register as news at this stage?

The same thing happens every year, as expected.

Not saying it isnt a disgrace or anything.

Lads this seems to be new news to a lot of ye. I sometimes wonder how much a lot of people down south knows about what it is like living in certain parts of Northern Ireland-they didn't wage a war for 30 odd years because the unionists were too nice to them. RTE may paint all northern Catholics as troublesome terrorists running around with bombs while their orange counterparts were harmless oul boys who just liked the sound of a flute but the reality is a little different.

Its definately nothing new but that doesnt mean it shouldnt be highighted and if the state braodcaster wants to ignore it fine, we then have a responsibility so to use newer forms of media like this to expose them.
2 weeks ago one of the head honchos was wined and dined by our upper house and allowed to moan about attacks on Orange halls and declare his belief they should march through Dublin unchallenged.
I for one oppose this in the same way i would oppose the KKK or neo nazis doing something similar. The Orange Orders core beliefs are Sectarianism and Xenophobia and they should be made to disband

They are supposed to be contributing towards the peace process but yet they decide to stop and play outside a catholic church and play "The famine song", which is a song sung by Rangers football supporters calling for Irish immigrants to leave Scotland.

Its only right that they should never be let near Dublin and if they ever go near there again there should be a few of them going home in boxes.

Just a group of pathetic individuals to be pitied more than hated. Have to endure this celebration of 'culture' every summer.
The thing is the 6 county statelet isn't, never was or ever will be a country. It has no government (a legislative assembly isn't a government) so therefore each summer, we are treated to a display of 'culture' that amounts to putting up 'flegs', marching up and down dressed like imbeciles to crap bands that play their songs of hate because they want to assert their authority in a country that doesn't exist. To set this up we have bonfires which are in reality an excuse to get off your nut, listen to crap rave music, burn tires therefore poisoning yourself and the area around you and burning flags of other nations, soccer teams, GAA clubs etc because you are 'Bradish' and 'The Peepil'

Unionism is a strange animal. A siege mentality if you will, where the natural reaction is to hate others as you have no distinct culture or identity of your own, so you plagiarise others and try to pass them off as your own, latch onto some warped idea of Britishness and carry it off with a sense of deluded supremacy. Hey presto, you have northern unionism/loyalism.
Of course this is all aided and abetted by those in power, NITB (orangefest anyone?), the continual reference to 'Northern Ireland' at every opportunity (clearly trying to normalise the term by brainwashing), broadcasters relaying this all back on TV as a fun family day out (looks great craic swigging buckfast at 9am then collapsing into your own vomit by 3pm).
So the above band are just a microcosm of this. They will never change as they are, believe it or not, terrified of the changing world so this is their natural reaction, perma-rage. Again, to be pitied and laughed at more than hated. Now, if only they learned to clean up after themselves.

As already mentioned this kind of stuff is a regular thing all over the 6 counties.Careful media editing across the board paint it as something else which it is not and yes toleration of this by the "neutral" police.
It's drummed in (pardon the pun) at an early age when they would be better off trying to get their young people an education which is sorely lacking in these areas.Ignorance breeds this type of carry on.

Excellent post. They are the equivilant of the Celtic jersey wearing inner city Dublin sc*mbag who haven't a clue of the ins or outs or rights or wrongs of the whole situation and who RTE and a few posters on here like to portray as typical of anyone with nationalist leanings. Why don't we bus a load of these lads up to march down Sandy Row every Paddy's day singing hunger strike songs? Surely no northern unionists would have a problem with that? It would be a sign of how they are maturing as a people.

Take off the blinkers there lads and ye might find a few videos on youtube where the angels are engaging in mindless violence over the last week or so. Im not condoning what the orange order do, but some lads here think that they are the only ones who do anything out of the way up North at this time of year

The problem is that the likes of RTÉ won't highlight both sides of this Staycalm. No-one in Irish journalistic circles ever seems to question why the number of northern visitors to the south jumps so dramatically around July, but we'll get the likes of that gobs**te Eoghan Harris raving on about nationalists 'attacking' 'peaceful' Orange marches. As if the Orangemen were marching through nationalist areas to play tiddlywinks.

The loyalist band involved in this have released a press statement - http://www.bbc.co.uk...reland-18858728

"They say it was "pure chance" that they came to a halt outside the church.

"In fact, many of our members in the band only realised that we had been playing outside the chapel when it was reported by the local media," the band said in a statement."

"The tune we were playing is actually a Beach Boy song title Sloop John B," the band's statement said.
