First pairing since 01 in the final but this is how Leinster finals should be. Both meeting in the minor too to further spice things up. Praying to god the Kildare performance wasn’t a flash in pan. Banty has put some faith in youth and it worked but I’m worried the element of surprise is now gone. Dublin panel announced, big news is MDMA is in at full forward

Dublin (SF v Meath): S Cluxton; M Fitzsimons, R O'Carroll, P McMahon; J McCarthy, K Nolan, C O'Sullivan; E Fennell, D Bastick; P Flynn, A Brogan, B Cullen (captain); B Brogan, MD Macauley, K McManamon.

Hard one to call, will Dublin build the same momentum as last year? History shows coming back after such a high as Dublin had the year before is difficult for teams.

Meath will be massive underdogs and that's the time to be afraid, very afraid. If Banty targets the Dublin full back line and they win that area then they have a real chance of upsetting the Dubs. How Sheridan goes at full forward is vital for Meath.

If i was placing money on the game then Dublin would be my pick BUT a Meath win is not a dream. It could be a reality.

Thanks ger, printing that, seeking you out in Fagans and nailing it to your head after the match.

Anyway Im thinking 3 man mid field for Dublin, MacAuley will hardly hang around the FF line getting eaten by K Reilly. I think this is an attempt to suffocate G Reilly.

Dublin by 7 points Im thinking. I think Kidare for some unknown reason seriously underestimated Meath.

Dublin should win this but on a good day and with a bit of luck that Meath team could beat any team in ireland because they have what many other teams lack - a lot of players in their squad who have the ability to score goals out of nowhere. Its how they beat dublin last time they met.

Dublin could make the same mistake. I'd imagine that McAuley wiill end up at mid-field after his performance the last day.

They said on the radio this morning that they are expecting 60,000 at this , which is still a very good crowd considering the times we are in.

I think the Ulster Final is a sell out , but the capacity there is 30,000 or so.

There are also expecting 25,000 or so at the Kerry V Tyrone qualifier.

What does Eamon Fennell have to do to get dropped?

Wouldn't be surprised to see him being left off and someone like Ciaran Kilkenny being sprung before the throw in.

Otherwise his continued presence in the first 15 is bizarre.

His presence on the panel is bizarre. For a man that caused no end of trouble he simply does not deserve to be on the team.

Well I wouldn't have him on the panel myself but I suppose he's big.and strong and could do a very specific job off the bench if required.

But his continued selection is very strange particularly as he's not a Gilroy style player with his lack of mobility. Conal Keaney was dropped for not working hard enough - Fennell would make Conal look like Brian Dooher in comparison.

If Dublin are at their best I think they will win comfortably .McManamon is in brilliant form at the moment. Bernard Brogan was quiet the last day so you woudl expect him to be alot better on Sunday and I doubt Dublin will be as loose as Kildare were the last day and the only chance I can see for Meath is in midfield if Gillespie has a stormer like he did against Kildare they will probably win that battle. Also I would think Dublin will want to set the record straight and sow taht the result in 2010 was a fluke.Should be an enjoyable game as both teams play good football.Meaths full back line will ahve a lot more to think about than the last day as Kildare were very one dimensional in their approach, Dublin will vary things a bit more

The biggest weekend of the year so far and I can't wait, cracking games the length and breath of the country in prospect. Hard to know what will happen at HQ as the Dubs haven't set the world alight but Meath have been poor more often than they've been good this year as well.

Meath have some good players but I think Dublins high intensity football will be too much for their good but cumbersome forwards.

Dubs by 5.

I can only assume Fennell is retained to fill the column inches and thus keep Dublin's intercounty players out of the papers.
God knows how he gets picked, always struggles on summer pitches (that's assuming he puts in above average league performances, which he doesn't)....he's certainly not even on his club form either.

As special guests of the Leinster Council, representatives of the Meath and Dublin 1991 teams will be introduced to the crowd at half time in the senior match. In many quarters their 1991 championship saga is still viewed as something of a watershed moment for the all Association.

In addition, the Leinster football final 2012 will take on a family fun twist this weekend with a new Family Funzone taking over the entire Davin Stand car park on the same day that the Dublin and Meath heroes of 1991 are guests of honour at Croke Park.

The all-new family Funzone, which is to become a permanent installation at Croke Park for the remainder of the football and hurling championship campaigns, will include the Leinster Council’s inflatable playing pitch and other inter-active games and activities for young players.

A number of Dublin and Meath clubs will compete in the Leinster GAA Roadshow pitch while training and coaching tips will also be available from expert coaches on the day.

There will also be a chance to get your picture with the Sam Maguire and Delaney Cups before the captain of either Dublin or Meath receives the latter later that afternoon.

SuperValu’s giant Sam Maguire will also be on location and Ulster Bank’s interactive kicking game will test the skills of budding footballers.

We will also have special guests from both counties who will be offering some pre-match analysis with our special MC on the day.

Later in the day
The Leinster Council will also induct another former great into their Hall of Fame on Sunday between the two games.

Leinster Council chairman Martin Skelly said: “We believe that Sunday’s minor and senior double header billing of Dublin v Meath will be a unique occasion with so much going on around the games themselves. “On Sunday the new Family Funzone, which will take over the entire Davin Stand car park, will be used for the first time offering families a fun facility before they take their positions for the match. We hope our supporters avail of and enjoy the new initiative before settling in for what we are confident will be two excellent games afterwards.”

Access to the new funzone will be off Nth Circular Road, just beyond Gill’s pub and from the Russell Street Bridge entrance. Activities in the Family Funzone are free of charge and accessible by all match day ticket holders

I wouldnt pick Fennell myself. Interesting theory you have re Kilkenny. I dont think Gilroy has much history of picking dummy team though?

No, he doesn't, though he did pick one last year against Tyrone I think. Eoghan O'Gara was named but Barry Cahill started if I'm correct?

The team named probably will be the team alright but I just can't believe that Fennell is still being selected. His displays in the two championship matches have been brutally poor and that's coming from a base where he shouldn't have been selected to start with.

Ya another big weekend ahead as they nearly all will be from on until September.

The biggest game this weekend is probably the Tipp V Antrim game but the Leinster final and the Kerry V Tyrone match will draw a lot of interest as well.

The Warwickshire U12 Development Squad play at half time in the minor match. A county that produced the Meath full forward.

Meath team. Gally, Keoghan, K Reilly, Burke, Tobin, McAnarney, Menton, Gillespie, Meade, Forde, Carroll, G Reilly, Farrell, Sheridan, Bray. Can't argue with that.

Badger, what's the story with Cian Ward, is he injured or just off form, and who will take the frees?

Just not good enough tipptop. He'll kick great points against offaly or a rake of goals against Louth but he disappears against big teams and hits awful wides. Bray will take the frees, Big Joe the 45s
