And you had 3 things to say to the Limerick Team?
Here my tuppence worth.........
1. Beware of KK targeting the younger players from the start - they have a history of doing this
( although apart from Dodge Niall & Gavin it probably means everyone else ???!!!!)
2. Not as much as one high ball to be played to Tobin & Mulcahy in the corners - everything to be played out in front hopping off the sod - high balls are meat and drink to Tyrell and Co.
3. The obvious one of keeping it tight on the scoreboard for the first 20 mins - not to mention the next 50 !!!
Is it fair to assume that Breen will be standing in front of Walsh at the puck outs ? Dowling will have it all to do to catch ball over JJ ( if he's not full back ! )
I would worry about Dowling having a good start in open play - he didn't start well against Clare or the Tipp u-21's and didn't really get going after that - whereas he started well against Tipp in the senior game and went on to contribute a lot after that . Another quandary is who to play at midfield - Paul Browne , Conor Allis and Seamus Hickey give us options along with Jimbob and Paudie o Brien
- question is who is best suited to go head to head with Fennelly ?
Decisions Decisions .....

Barry Kelly assigned to Cork Wford game so they may have less licence to employ that particular tactic.

Unfortunately it's not quite as easy as telling a team to keep it tight on the scoreboard for whatever length of time.
If so, why would Allen just say that? Why not tell them "hey lads, how about we go out and go 15 points up after 20 mins"!!!
Surely no one intends to go out and get a slow start? Also surely every team goes out to hit the ground running and get a great start, not just Kilkenny?
Just one of those little bugbears that you often hear from pundits that annoy me!

Well maybe the Yellowbelly could impart some of his knowledge as how best to avoid getting a hiding from KK - after all Wexford have specilalised in doing double figure defeats to KK over the years !!!!!!!

Or perhaps Wexford should be titled 'Unlimited Hatchet Men' after they butchered Gary Kirby in 1996, their last and very poxy AI title?

Is there any more bizarre phenomenon than the "Limerick GAA Internet Poster"????
Seriously???
They're so deluded as to be more pitied than scorned really. Is Limerick really that much of a kip that all some of yee can do is come on to a DB day after frigging day and fantasize about actually being successfull?
Wexford have actually won an AI in the last 20 years and although it was a poor AI championship that year IMO, they actually went and -ing won one, you don't hear Wexford cribbing and crying either or going on about that win.
Wexford actually beat Kilkenny in 04 too but you won't hear the nostalgic crap that you hear from Limerick as they dredge the memories for when they were a danger to anyone of substance. Wexford people are realistic enough to understand that they caught a superior team on the hop and just be thankful for a good day. Christ I can still remember the laughing I did when yee played KK in the final a few years ago, there were actually clowns around Dorset Street entertaining notions of beating the Cats!!!!
Reality check fellas, Limerick are about par with Wexford, Offaly and Clare at the moment. Nobody fears them but they won't get a complete tanking.*
Progress is being made but that's all it is progress. And for Jaysus sake get over Gary Kirby, yee're worse than ould women.
It's unfortunate for the normal GAA people in Limerick I'd imagine that they have to share allegiance with some of the juveniles I read on t'interweb. Would yee ever wise up and accept your position at the moment
*This may change pretty soon

Well first of all of course Wexford havent done any cribbing about 1996 because they, you know, actually won the match. People tend not to crib about victories for their team.
Secondly Wexford's win may have been poor, but Limerick's progress to the final was not. Limerick beat Cork out the gate in Cork(hadnt been done in the MSHC before that) beat Clare, AI Champions and then came from 10 points down at half time to Tipp to draw and then beat them in the replay (ah, glory days!). Without doubt that was one of the most amazing Munster Championship campaigns ever won by any team, and it is with shuddering pain I think that a bunch of hatchet men and mullets from Wexford (who by the way had to be extensively conned by a psychologist into believing they weren't the s**te players they were) beat Limerick in the AI Final. I'll never slag Offaly over 94, they were magicians; but Wexford had to be the worst team to ever win an AI.

This is the beautiful irony of the usual Limerick Whinge;
Wexford were schite?? I wouldn't agree but maybe so, played most of the game with 14 men and still beat yee!!!!!!!!
You'd have to close Grangegorman to supply enough shrinks to convince Limerick they could win an AI. I remember in 96 I actually felt sorry for Limerick and hoped they'd win something but the cribbing since has convinced me that yee "deserve" fvck all.
Most of those players probably deserved one but the whinging ever since shows the Limerick support had actually conned themselves into thinking that an AI was merely a matter of hanging around long enough and yee'd eventually get one. Not how it works I'm afraid
Wexford weren't great winners but by fvck were Limerick bad losers
.
Wexford 1-13
Limerick 0-14

Well Wexford actually DID need and use psychologists to win the AI, so saying Limerick need them is a bit ridiculous really - pot, kettle, black, no?
We arent bad losers at all, but Wexford CHEATED to win the AI, pure and simple. Deliberately taking out an opponent's main threat is cheating, end of story. But ye got your AI and your crossroads dancing and that's the main thing.

Maybe ye should have taken the head of their biggest threat no? Come on they won the AI, he has a point some serious posts on here recently.

Clang! Clang, clang.....call the doctor! I think we're losing one!
Talk about bitter! Cheated? Not one of that Limerick team, nevermind panel were unable to mind themselves!
Thought you were better than that Clangera!

Wipe the foam off your face, take a few deep breaths and you might see that I was joking about Grangegorman in response to your stupid comment,so "pot, kettle, black" doesn't apply (na, na na-na na).
The whole psychologist debate is ridiculous anyway as this is one area where Wexford led the rest of the country really, almost every county set-up has a sports psychologist now.
Cheated, shmeated, as Cody says, the best team always wins. Limerick lost FFS, just accept it and look forward to possibly, maybe, just maybe getting back to some similar heights. That'll only be if yee stop blowing smoke up the holes of the good young hurlers yee have down there now.
Seriously, Louth have gotten over what was genuinely a very hard luck story, 16 years and yee're still b1tching. It's pathetic and not a small bit annoying at this stage

Lads stop saying Liam Dunne was dirty. He wasnt. Mike Houlihan even said so himself after they marked each other in 97. OK, Houlihan was after timbering Dunne up and down the field for the previous hour so he didnt have the chance to be dirty, but still, if he says Dunne wasnt dirty then I believe him

I think the biggest injury Dunne sustained that day would have been when he landed on his backside, apparently he got an awful bruise from the Celtic Cross in his ar5e pocket.
Luckily a hazard Houlihan didn't have to contend with.....

Don't take the average poster on here to represent Limerick GAA people in general. The same way that we won't stereotype Wexford Gaa people to be a grumpy b.olix like yourself.
And secondly, you dont have to read or reply to these topics if you don't want to.

What a ridiculous attempt to respond. Is there not some soccer forum you can post on if that's the extent of your "wit"?
Wexford 1-13
Limerick 0-14
Important to note though that Mike Houlihan "timbered" (not my words) Liam Dunne around in 1997........
