No mention of 3 months minimum in The Examiner?

Great stuff.
Should put pressure on the Quinns to play ball in assisting with the return of taxpayers money/assets.
I trust its not some open prison but somewhere with a decent routine of slopping out. Lying to court may not bother them but jail time surely will.
Give them 3 months and then turf the infamous 2euro card player in the cell with them as well. Maybe add a family member each month....big brother in reverse

Good news. People have no regard for the law and this may lay down a precedent.
If normal people did what they did, they'd be in jail long before now.

Great stuff.
Not so long ago, there would have been plenty of sympathy for Quinn along the lines of "ah sure, didn't he create loads of jobs", "he was a great GAA man", etc.
The shenanighans that have come to light recently show him up in a different light. Hopefully this is the first of many.
The developer Tom McFeeley also in trouble re hisding a propeerty in Spain from the courts in his bankruptcy application.

No doubt an open prison with day release every day.
They will be out by Monday.

I'd say Sean Snr may suddenly recall where he left the title documents and deeds of certain valuable assets, over the coming couple of days!!

If they do end up serving their 3 months (and that's stil a big IF) this will send a huge message to those who previously considered themselves untouchable.

The only message it will send is, if you're willing to sit tight for a few months you can hang on to any assets you consider yours. Manys the man wouldn't mind doin a year or two for €500m. She should of jailed the godfather himself while she was at it.

I'm no legal eagle, but I think the money is still owed at the end of the 3 months. Just gives the prisoner time and confined space for reflection.

That's what I was thinking as well. This is for contempt and nothing to do with the alleged 'crime'.

With CFD's, they are a margin product. It's a leveraged gamble.
Quinn had a stop loss of 5 million on his gamble, but increased and Increased the stop loss to chase his losses.

GARDAI last night ordered an air and sea-port alert for on-the-run business mogul Peter Darragh Quinn, who is facing a three-month jail sentence for contempt of court.
After a warrant for his arrest was issued in the High Court yesterday, senior gardai began a manhunt at home and overseas. Mr Quinn, nephew of bankrupt businessman Sean Quinn, was not in court when the sentence was handed down.
His cousin, Sean Quinn Jnr, was also sentenced to three months for contempt and spent last night in Mountjoy Prison. However, Sean Quinn Snr escaped imprisonment yesterday. The trio fell foul of the court for attempting to keep details of a €500m property empire from the former Anglo Irish Bank.
This is the first time anyone has been jailed arising from investigations into the collapse of Anglo.
Peter Darragh Quinn is the son of former GAA president Peter Quinn. He had been signing affidavits in his lawyers' offices until 3am but failed to appear in the High Court later.
Last night gardai visited his home and other properties where he might be staying in Dublin and elsewhere but could not find any trace of him.
Garda districts where Mr Quinn was either known to have a base or stayed with friends were prioritised as details of his disappearance were circulated.
A description of the missing businessman was also sent to gardai on duty at the ports and his name was added to a list routinely distributed to other police forces through Interpol and Europol. Gardai were also in close contact throughout the day with the PSNI.
A senior officer told the Irish Independent last night: "This man is obviously not a dangerous criminal at large.
"But our job is to follow the orders given by the judge and make every effort to track him down and bring him before the High Court," he added.
Border
Officers were investigating reports that Mr Quinn had fled across the Border.
Initially, it was thought that he might have taken ill because of the stress of the court case and had been admitted to hospital. But last night officers were satisfied that he intended to leave the jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, a decision on where Sean Quinn Jnr will spend the rest of his sentence will be made by prison authorities today. He will probably be sent to the Midlands jail in Portlaoise but Wheatfield in west Dublin is another option.
Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne found that the two men had failed to adequately comply with court orders aimed at reversing measures stripping multimillion-euro assets from the Quinn family's international property group.
She said it was an "outrageous" contempt of court orders by the two cousins and Sean Quinn
The judge refused a bid by lawyers of the two cousins to put the sentence on hold, pending an appeal to the Supreme Court. If they do not co-operate, the two will serve the full sentence as it does not qualify for a quarter of remission on grounds of good behaviour.
And if they refuse to change their stance, they could end up before the court again on further contempt issues.
During the court hearing the judge was told that a solicitor for the Quinns had been phoned after 10am, apparently by a relative of Peter Darragh Quinn, to say he was sick. But further efforts to contact that person or Peter Quinn had failed.
It was also stated that he appeared to be "okay" when he filed the affidavits.
Mr Quinn Snr was allowed to stay out of jail to take measures to comply with court orders and provide details of the family's assets.
He clutched his white linen handkerchief in his hands and bowed his head as the judge ordered the two young men to be jailed.
He declined to comment on the decision as he left the Four Courts complex and told inquiring reporters to "have a good weekend".
Arguing against imprisoning the men, Brian O'Moore, senior counsel for the 65-year-old businessman, said it was wrong to lock up one member of the family in the hope another would act. "This almost medieval approach of holding the son to see what the chieftain father will do in terms of freeing the son's liberty is wholly inadequate," he said.
But Ms Justice Dunne responded that it was far from medieval and she considered it a "practical" way of encouraging compliance with the orders.
She refused to accept they had no control over assets when eight members of the family had received €2.8m in pay and income from their firms since April last year.
Mr Quinn senior owes €2.8bn to Anglo, now known as the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation (IBRC), after sustaining unprecedented losses.
The Quinn family have admitted that they owe €455m but dispute the claims on the rest of the money.

What do you mean "grave"? He is alive and sleeping in a mansion after effectively sending his son to Mountjoy!!
Who told him it would be a cracking idea to set up shell companies, inter familial transfers and offshore tax haven trusts to try and hide the assets he bought with the loaned money????
If he held his hands up, admitted that the business ventures and investments he had engaged in had not worked, he would have walked away a rich man but his greed got the better of him and he wanted to hang on to all of it!!

If the chap that is on the 'run' turns up in the next few days with a doctors cert, which is what no doubt will happen , will he still only get 3 months or can he be sentenced to more for not turning up in court the last day and evading capture.

Presumably those other forces have no powers to detain him

Emotions run high as GAA stars join thousands at rally for defiant Quinns
BUSINESSMAN Sean Quinn last night vowed his family would stand together as he received rapturous applause at a major support rally in his heartland.
Joined on stage in Ballyconnell, Co Cavan, by Tyrone GAA manager Mickey Harte and well-known priest Fr Brian D'Arcy, Mr Quinn warned supporters that he felt emotional and that speaking would be a difficult task.
Mr Quinn -- once Ireland's richest man -- referred to his fugitive nephew, Peter Darragh, claiming the nephew's reputation had been damaged.
"I'd like to thank especially young Peter who's getting a bad reputation. Peter has been a huge support to his family and the Quinns will continue to be the Quinns and we will stand by each other."
Mr Quinn thanked his staff for their loyalty and support and said they had been "tremendous".
He left the stage, got into a car and was driven off.
Earlier, his daughter Colette said the family were looking forward to their day in court when they would be vindicated.
Throughout the evening Mr Quinn was feted as the man who brought growth and prosperity to a region allegedly ignored by the northern and southern governments.
And the former businessman was honoured as a man who did not flaunt his wealth, but poured it back into the local community.
The side of a lorry was the stage for the rally in Ballyconnell where supporters lined part of the main street to praise the man whose name adorned buildings throughout the area.
Below a banner demanding "natural justice" for the Quinn family, Fr D'Arcy stated that it should be the regulators, auditors and banks before the courts, not the Quinn family.
"The main reason I'm here is because as Christians and good neighbours we have a right and a duty to stand by our families and neighbours," he said.
"They built an industry the like of which has never been seen in this country.
"When northern governments and southern governments wouldn't give us a penny, when not a single one of them provided a job, it was Sean Quinn and his family who took up the battle."
More than 1,000 people thronged the main street in Ballyconnell, bearing placards alleging that what happened to the Quinn family was an injustice. It was easy to see why the family has such support in the area.
One woman, who did not wish to be named, said the family had brought employment to an area largely forgotten by central government.
"The area would be nothing without that family," she told the Irish Independent. "There would be no employment here if it were not for them."
Empire
On the road from Derrylin, Co Fermanagh, to Ballyconnell, just across the Border in Co Cavan, elements of the Quinn family's former empire peppered the landscape.
Quinnglass, Quinn rooftiles, Quinnpherm and Quinn Packaging were just some of the factory-style buildings bearing the family name, as well as the large, red-brick office complex of the Quinn Group.
Local businessman Padraig Donohoe said Mr Quinn was one of the greatest entrepreneurs the country had ever produced.
"We are here to fight our corner and it's going to be a hard fight," he said.
"We are here to support the Quinn family, a family who stands for everything that is good in Irishness and deep family values."
Former Meath manager Sean Boylan said the Quinn family were "not thieves, not vagabonds, they're not people who don't care".
"They are Irish people who have the guts and ingenuity to create a better life for thousands of people in this country and we owe them a massive favour of thanks and gratitude."
Meath legend Colm O'Rourke also joined the marchers.
Former Armagh manager Joe Kernan and captain Jarlath Burns also spoke, while a handwritten letter of support was read out from Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary.
