Is is the right or wrong thing to do to postpone the dublin hurling championship until mid september?

the group stages are over and quarter finalists decided. the dublin seniors and under 21s are out of the championship. so surely the quarter finals should be played in the next week or so? One story is that Rory O'Carroll is a key hurler for Kilmacud and it was decided to wait until the footballers exit the championship. This doesnt stack up. Sure kilmacud's quarter final could be played 2 or 3 days after the leinster football final. I think thats how they deal with sort of thing in cork.

meanwhile a good chunk of the dublin hurling squad has gone to the states for the rest of the summer

at this stage it looks as if the county board just dont want the club hurling championship be played in the summer months. the league can be played and i suppose it can be played off quick enough during sept\oct now that the quarter final pairings are decided. maybe it isnt a bad thing as players can go on a holiday in august and students etc will be back from summer travels. however it wouldnt happen in kilkenny!!!

Wrong thing to do. I'd imagine all serious hurling counties play club matches during the championship

It's totally crazy and I can say no more for fear of getting AFR into trouble. But suffice to say what was agreed at last year's convention has been well and truly sabotaged.

Because Hurling in Dublin plays second fiddle (a distant second fiddle) to football.

Nonsense. Clubs play second fiddle to county. The club championship in football is on hold until Dublin are out of the All Ireland. Minor won't start until the beginning of September or until after the All Irelands if Dublin are in either of them.
