Don't be so cynical D2.

I love the entire thing and had hoped that I would be working up to now so that I could have gone over there for some of the events. No such luck though but I'll be glued to the whole thing. Weightlifting, martial arts, gymnastics, track and field. Will not be watching tennis or swimming although I will watch the diving.

Dont mind the swimming to be honest, the 50metre freestyle is something else, power..always remembered the russian Popov back in the day something else. Also as a novice swimmer, anyone who can do the buttefly deserves some credit, phenomally hard endurance to do.

Like all the track and field as well. Get a great laugh out of the weightlifting when i hear Ronan Collins commentating on it like he was involved in it for years.

3000M steeplechase i like to watch. Pole vault ( sergei bubka fan) and enjoy the girldeles in any event, those eastern european wans in the long jump and high jump are usually worth a gander.......

I love the middle distance athletics myself: 800, 1500 and 5000. There are usually some great contests there. However I just don't "get" the race-walking: it's a bit like a slow bicycle race!

Typcial Irish luck... my daughter knows sycerika mcmahon our young wonder swimmer (not an exaggeration currently ranked 7th in the world) She has been in hospital for last 24 hours with vomiting bug. That effectively is the end of her.

Looking forward to the indoor cycling. Really like that. Men and womens, don't care.
I would watch the basketball, hopefully it isn't all USA USA USA. I like watching the Argies, Spanish, Croats etc at the cispheil.

There was a Swedish one I think a few years back either doing the long jump or pole vault. She is/was a vision....

I love the 10,000 metres, the triathlon, the marathon and the steeplechase. Love watching the endurance and mental toughness of the long distance athletes.

She's something else in fairness!!

So is the third swimmer above. Gopgles and swimcaps should be banned for women's swimming and diving events.

If that is true, that is very tough on the girl.

Just watching Britain v New Zealand women's football in the first event of the Olympics. If this is what we have to look forward to for the next 3 weeks then bring back Eastenders and Blue Peter. All is forgiven!!

Have you nothing better to be doing on a fine summer's day than watching a women's soccer match on telly?
