Does anyone know what the story with An Moltóir is. Ater moving from his column here on AFR a few years ago to his own website ( http://anmoltoir-hurling.blogspot.ie/ ), it was great to be able to check out his usual comprehensive match reports. The last update on his webpage seems to be on the 21st of March though, with no update since to even say if he had abandoned the endeavour. Anyone have any info, or even if all is ok with him? I find his analysis one of the highlights of the championship season, as am sure many, many others do too.

Agreed. His match analysis is easily the best in the GAA in my humble opinion. I hope he goes back to it.

I started the same thread pretty much a couple months back. No sign of any info.

He is somebody that I originally thought would have got a break in the print media world because his stuff was certainly good enough. I suppose the downside of that type of material is that it would have been virtually impossible to turn around in time for the deadlines for the Monday papers and most newspapers would probably have wanted it by the Monday

He had differences with the media at one point and that probably put an end to his chances of getting the break. Nevertheless he should have been in print at least four years before that dispute. I dont know how Sports Editors think, but if I was in their shoes, I would certainly have been giving an Moltoir a break in the mid 2000's.

It's a pity alright, his (and his teams) work and analysis was top notch. At this point, given he served no notice of finishing it up, I would just hope that all is personally well with An Moltóir. You can take for granted what you see on the internet, and imagine it will continue in perpetuity, but at the end of the day, there are real people behind sites, and given how easily it is to fall on hard times, personally or financially, these days, would just hope all is well with An Moltóir and the crew.

Would agree with all that. Such top class work and analysis was always deserving of a wider audience, and regardless of whether that was a newspaper or not, you would have felt there would have been some way to do so, even given the painstaking time and effort involved in each analysis. Even if that outlet was a media production company signing him up, and using his analysis to provide a cutting edge analysis show during the championship season. Would put all the nonsense, like the Committee Room, et al, to shame.
