There is a bit in today's Daily Mail in the UK saying that it has taken "spoilt premier league footballers to cause ructions within team GB for refusing to sing the national anthem". The anthem in question is obviously God Save The Queen and the 3 players in question are.......Giggs, Bellamy and Allen. 3 Welsh internationals. And here they are getting slated for not singing God Save The Queen. It is hardly a surprise I suppose that they think Welsh people should sing that when you consider a week ago they thought North Korea and South Korea were the same country

Why the hell are you reading today's Daily Mail? I'd say there is serious ructions in the team over this alright. They didn't quote an unnamed insider or source close to the squad did they? If so, then you'd have to take that to the bank.
Any tips for race week?

Free when I got off the plane. I wouldnt pay for a paper in Ireland so im hardly going to pay for that yoke.
It wasnt any insider. It was the Daily Mail's own journalist who wrote it

This has been making news on the interweb since the opening game. Same as the womens team, complaints because a Scottish girl didn't sing the English anthem (then again, in the full version there's a line about putting down/killing the Scots).
No real surprise to see the Daily Mail run this tripe. Maybe the Welsh lads want to partake in the Olympics but aren't too concerned with saving the Queen.
Some reporter claimed that players staying silent during the anthem whilst others belt it out will lead to a lack of team unity. At Euro 2012, they all bellowed out God Save the Queen, didn't England any major favours.

That is one of the best lines in here since "fully reared". The Daily Mail's own journalist! Ha Ha Ha. Most british people I know treat that rag with the scorn it deserves. It provides middle class bile for the middle class simpleton.

It is a shame that members of the soccer fraternity disrespect our national anthem by not singing it.
Give credit to the English rugby team, they belt it out with pride and gusto.

Here here! The Daily Mail is the worst mix of xenophobic, right wing tripe and fawning celebrity gossip going. They come out with all of these strident anti-EU headlines (invariably taken out of context or indeed fabricated) but yet don't even have any journalists based in Brussels. A rag, pure and simple.

What do you expect from a pig but a grunt. Then again, you get lads on here complaining about the ulster lads not singing the anthem as well, so there's idiots a plenty in every country.

It is good to see the Welsh take pride in their own country rather than ye "Norn Iron" Prods who are neither one thing nor the other nor knowing exactly who you are e.g. Wannabe English but knowing ye will never be fully acknowledged as being English!

Wouldn't call her a journalist! But seriously, as far as I know she's an opinion columnist more than a news reporter, and to the best of my knowledge, she's a mere 'contributor' to the Mail.

Why would I need to tell them?
They already know.

I think you know well what type of reaction you would get if you tried!. Ye Norn Iron Prods will never be accepted as being English no matter how hard ye try!

Technically, Wales is a principality, Scotland, though is a country.
Just because something is on Wiki doesn't make it complete factual.

A principality is a small country ruled by a prince. Given that Big Ears hasn't has never had executive power (the UK being a constitutional monarchy), its safe enough to describe Wales as a country.
Wiki isn't perfect, I know.
