Agreed. It going to really ramp up the pressure on both teams as well because not only will they have to bring a savage display next week but they're going to have bring it again in three weeks. That's of course assuming there's not a replay.

Arrogance? no fact! Best team of all time, and still going.
We will hammer Tipp next week.
Then revenge against Galway.

form of larkin and to a lesser degree power must be a wee bit of a worry for KK, both seem to have left their best form in the league.
then again same question mark hung over tommy going into limerick match and he produced a MOTM performance.
will need all their big guns firing and if they do i reckon KK should just edge it.

It will be interesting to see Tipp's team selection for Sunday. I dpn't expect many changes from the last day. But I wonder what 6 forwards they will settle on?

My guess would be,
Cummins
O'Brien
Currran
Cahill
Stapleton
O'Mahony
Maher
McGrath
Maher
O'Brien
B Maher
P Bourke
McGrath
Kelly
Corbett
I hear Eoin Kelly is hopping off the sod and is in contention to retain his place, if that happens then i think Buggy will make way. No doubt in my mind that Buggy & Shane Bourke off the bench give Tipp serious options late in a game.

Bourke
McGrath
Corbett
O'Meara
O'Brien
Kelly
Harry, I think you are probably nearer the mark, it will be interesting to see. Also I wouldn't be surprised if they don't line up as named.

I'd start O'Meara ahead of Kelly, his form has suggested he's done nothing wrong to merit being dropped, he's more of a physical presence than Kelly is and he's better in the air. He's also surprisingly quick for such a big man.
Add in the fact that Lar will most likely play the roving role, which would mean with the above selection Tipp would have an inside line of McGrath and Kelly against Tyrrell, Delaney and Murphy, which would be a very difficult task for those two to win that battle. O'Meara on the wing, most likely on Doyle, would be more effective and free up O'Brien (Tipp's best aerial ball winner) for the inside forwards.

Inspector 71's arrogance is why Kilkenny lost to Galway? Are you for real?

I reckon the Kilkenny team for Sunday will be:
Herrity
Murphy
Delaney
Tyrrell
Walsh
Hogan
Doyle
M Fennelly
Rice
Reid
Power
Larkin
C Fennelly
Shefflin
Fogarty
Not a bad line-up. The defense looks fairly solid, the midfield too, I think both areas can do a good job on their opposite numbers.
Its up front I worry about a bit, especially the HF line. Power and Larkin have been way off their best in the last few games, and Reid still has question marks over whether he can do it on the big days.
The FF line looks a lot more dangerous though, Colin Fennelly and Fogarty are in form and fully fit while Shefflin is a hand-full around the square. He's not the fastest, but then neither is Curran, and Shefflin is more likely to drift into space anyway. The problem will be supplying the FF line with good ball.
Its a big ask, but if Power and Larkin can rediscover their early year form (quite possible) and Reid delivers one of his better performances then I think we could pose the Tipp backs a few questions.
Whatever happens, I get the feeling Sunday is going to be a cracker and I'm seriously looking forward to this one. Hon the cats!!

There is not a hope in hell that Bonner Maher does not start if he is fit , the forwards can be work shy as it is without leaving off Maher.

yeah,i assume that'll be KK's starting team. joyce probably has an outside chance at left-half ahead of doyle but unlikely.

I would love to see Bonner Maher on the subs bench. Tipp are a completely different team with him in there, improves them massively with his work rate and winning of dirty ball. I was shocked he didn;t start teh first day and in all honesty he'd be the first name I'd want down on the Tipp forwards if I was a Tipp fan.
As for the KK team, barring injuries I think b&a I'd make one change, Buckley for Reid. TJ has been better coming off the bench and gives us a few more options. Richie Hogan's deserved suspension does limit us. The half forward line is the worry. But all we need is Richie and Eoin to regain any semblance of their earlier season form and we are ok.
This is a real 50:50 match. But then again at this stage I think the final between any of the 3 will be a 50:50 match based on recent form.

Correct, most vital man on the team!! I'm thinking Pa Bourke might be making way for EK, it would be harsh..nice problem to have though

Bonnars greatest attributes are winning dirty ball, physical presence, tackling and breaking forward. CF should be suited to him.
But Brian Hogan is a very accomplished CB. He has a bit of pace to keep in with Bonnars breaks forward, physically he's a very big man, good in the air and and wins his share of dirty ball as well. He covers the FB very well too. I'd have no fear that Brian Hogan could break even against Bonnar or come out on top.
I imagine a Bonnar/Brian Hogan battle will nearly be worth the admission price alone. One thing though, Bonnar has always been able to give Tommy Walsh a seriously hard time, and with Tommy back in form, I could see Bonnar being shifted to WF on Tommy to curb his influence.

Without a doubt both Buggy and Bonnar will start, prob our best two forwards this year. For me Pa is the only possibility to lose out to ek , even at that I'd doubt we will see him. For me the starting six will be . Johno Bonnar Pa Noel Buggy Lar . EK to replace Pa at some stage, Shane B for Noel and
expect to see Seamie at some stage too. Expecting an absolute cracker!!

I don't think Kelly is hopping off the sod as he injured his groin in a club game two weeks ago and hasn't trained since. He will be lucky to tog out from what i hear. Hopefully Tipp will get 25 minutes out of him be there is no way he will start.

will he play centre or will they put him on tommy again?
hogan will hurl the centre he won't go chasing bonner all over the field. his influence obviously needs to be be curtailed so he will be the repondsibility of the wing backs and the 2 midfielders as much as hogans.
i see cathal mc allister is reffing, wouldn't be my 1st choice but let's be thankfull for small mercys at least it's not wadding!!

Agree, I don't think Wadding has the fitness or common sense for a match involving teams like Tipp and Kilkenny, he's too far away from key incidents when they happen and has a habit of making odd calls.
Yesterday, I thought Gavin got a few calls wrong but got the vast majority right, overall used a lot of common sense, let the game flow and I thought reffed the game very well. I hope McAllister does the same.

The closer we get to the game, the more confirmed I am in my optimism
No need to revisit last year's Final and the way we allowed ourselves to get hit by a barrage of sucker-punches in the first five minutes.
I'm convinced that everybody in the squad has got their mental attitude completely right for this one.
Last year we placed too much reliance on Padraig Maher and Lar Corbett, and the resultant feeling of invincibility that we had nurtured for ourselves; the low-key approach of this Championship season could just as easily rebound in our faces in that since we haven't performed at a sustained level of intensity at any time this year, the lack of practice of operating at that rarefied level might just be our undoing against a Cats side benefitting from the twin motivation of nipping our revenge aspirations in the bud, while at the same time there's the need to avenge the humiliation inflicted on them byGalway
I think the decisive factors for us will be the wealth and breadth of forward scoring options; a Lar Corbett who's excelled as provider to complement his more anticipated poacher role, and, perhaps most importantly of all, an Eoin Kelly who's just been kept ticking along nicely, waiting to be sprung fro the trap as he looks to make amends for his 2011 'no-show'.
Our full-back line had been giving cause for concern in earlier rounds but even allowing for Waterford's full-forward line being far less potent than any Kilkenny variation, they showed an admirable calmness and unity of purpose in the Munster Final.
One lingering cause of concern for me is that Brendan Maher still hasn't scaled the heights of 2009-2010, and we may need him to operate at or close to his best for us to prevail.
I think we're primed to optimum levels and that we'll march confidently onto a potential banana-skin against a Galway side of great potential
I'm tipping us to win by 5 points; but we have the potential to make it more emphatic

This is the best KK team of all time and this will be plain to see on Sunday.
Tipp won't keep it pucked out to this forward line.
Rice
Reid
Power
Larkin
C Fennelly
Shefflin
Tipp are first in the firing line. Bless them.
