Munster flags taken down, but not replaced with Limerick GAA flags, they have actually been replaced with Limerick FC flags and wait for it............Manchester City Flags. I wasnt down that part of the City last week, but I doubt if there were Limerick GAA flags there.

Discuss........

Well there isn't much point putting up Limerick GAA flags now.
However I think it's a complete joke that they were not up all summer. Come June 1st - all Munster flags should be
taken down and replaced by Green & White one's.

It is the city of sport after all. But when the GG don't promote the sports of the GAA, why should the apes in City Hall do so?

Why bother with GAA flags?
It is a minority sport in the city and brings in very little in terms of international tourism.

They should just put up loads of flag poles, so every flag gets a chance...

I can guarantee you that Limerick GAA flags have been flying on Thomond Bridge the last while, although they took a break around Independence Day for US flags. Also on O'Connell St the permanent red flags were taken down in the last week or two and were replaced with green 'Sporting Limerick' flags. No progress made yet on the red flag flying on the bridge tower of the castle, I must hatch a plan.

Would it not just be cheaper/less controversial to just stick the Sporting Limerick logo on every flag, but for every third flag to be Green/White, Red, and Blue? It would lend a bit of colour to the bridges and streets, and better promote the idea of Limerick as your 'sporting capital.'

The Man City flags are a bit much though. They could easily be mistaken for Na Piarsaigh flags, and that wouldn't be on at all at all.

I wonder who Man City contacted to get permission to put up their flags.... Im sure Na Piarsaigh would also love to know seen as they were refused permission to put up flags around Caherdavin last year and the heads up might be of benefit to them for later in the year should they get to another final!!

I'm almost certain that there was Limerick GAA flags up on the bridge until the other day.

There were. They were there for a few months I would say. Not sure when it was shot, but LK flags featured prominently in John Creedon's Limerick City show, largely because RTÉ seemed to be only able to afford a handful of scene-setting shots around the castle/bridge and these were repeated ad nauseum throughout the show.

Aidan Ryan of Na Piarsaigh will be having letters printed in the papers again. The blue half of Manchester can fly their flag, but Na Piarsaigh could not.

Exactly, a bit of sense would go along way, give rugby it's time around the Heineken cup and then the minute Munster championship hits put up the green and white! I don't see why they can't just support both, regards the city flags.. Big deal they'll be down after the weekend, the season is over for limerick gaa anyways and they're right to advertise the city limerick game.

When were Na Piarsaigh not allowed but up flags. First I heard of it?

There seems to be a hell of a lot of confusion on this thread-do any of ye Limerick lads know what the Na Piarsaigh, Limerick GAA or Munster Rugby flags look like?

They wont be what they were, thats for sure. We are heading to the day where Munster Rugby will soon field a team of players who never played and were never blooded in the Real AIL (Pre-1999/2000 season). As it is, there is probably only O'Gara, O'Callaghan, Stringer and O'Connell left

Why don't supporters just put up the GAA flags anyway?

I'm sure the council wouldn't mind too much, and if they were asked to be removed, they would be shooting themselves in the foot as well. Its a win/win.
