Not English? Like Wales, Ulster and Scotland. British but not English.

Ulster has already won more medals at this Olympics than "Team Eire". This despite some Ulster athletes being corralled into competing for Eire.

Have the Brits won anything without the aid of a prop, eg. a boat , a bike or a horse ?

The track and field is just starting. Jessica Ennis has gold in the bag.

The Irish athletes are already composing their excuses for upcoming failure. They all get sick and injured before an event!
Maybe they could use some more imaginative excuses as the Games go on?
Time!!!

Lads, in fairness yere coming across as very bitter - below the belt to be questioning people's nationality, bordering on racist. As for talking about "props", just embarrassing.

We may win a few medals yet lads, no need to be so jealous of Team GBs amazing successes.

Anyone know the craic with the Olympic village and how much time they had to stay there. Did the athlethes have the option of staying in Ireland and flying in for the event or did they have to stay over there for the weeks ahead?

We cant say much. When we do use a horse the thing is souped up like some yoke in Columbia. If we get something in the sailing the boat will fail a drugs test

seemingly Geert Leinders who was part of the SKY teams medical staff since 2010 was previously at rabobank where many riders and the team were implicated in doping. So much for transparency and SKY...it will all come out eventually. Just like all the others we thought were clean in their moment of inital glory, landis, amstrong, contador,...ive lost a lot of faith in professional cycling being clean...

I couldnt care less how many medals team GB wins. The only sporting event that matters on the planet is next Sunday in Croke Park.

Could be quite a night for Team GB. Real prospects of three gold medals in the Track & Field. Jessica Ennis has already clinched the heptathlon, Rutherford leading in the long jump and Mo Farah a real shout of winning the 10,000.

The British team are doing well, and fair play to them. However to try and score some lame points off the back of it? ... Meh ... You need a huge population and/or serious investment and/or tradition in an event to succeed at the Olympics and we have none of the above, apart from a tradidition in boxing.

The most successful countries have population & investment, then you have Jamaica punching above their weight at sprinting because of their tradition, east African countries are the same at long distance running.

Great night for Team GB and fair play to them.

A strong British athletics team can only be good for Ireland with world class facilities and coaches available to Irish athletes.

The reason NZ do better then us at Olympic games etc is plain and simply down to us having the GAA. The vast majority of young fellas in this country want to play for their county. Growning up all I wanted to do was play for Cork or play for the Irish soccer team, been an Olympian never came into it and its the same for most boys and girls in this country.

For all we know Jerry O Connor or Derek Lyng could have been middle distance Olympians, Dan Shannahan a discus thrower, id say most inter county players would make serious rowers, cyclists, hockey players etc. I know the Kiwis have their rugby but they have little intrest in any other sports including soccer so athletics is well up in their list of priorities whereas we have GAA, soccer, rugby and then probably the Olympic sports. Also id say ladies football and camogie are a lot more populer here then say womens rugby is in NZ so that also is a reason why do they do better then us.

There is no point in comparing us to other countries because no other small countries have 4 sports which are more popular then Olympic sports.

You can make up for a lack of one factor by investing money. I bet their investment in Olympic sports is a whack more then ours.

Irish people are more interested in drinking and fighting than engaging in proper athletic endeavour. That's the key difference between New Zealand and Ireland.

I hear they are being introduced as Olympic sports for Rio so we should wipe the floor with rest of the world
