What is the consensus out there, can they do it? WIlliam Hill make them a 6/4 chance for the football and 6/1 chance for the hurling

Ah sure they are already in the hurling final, providing any 15 from Cork show up next Sunday.

Galway are 1/2 and heavy favourites, Cork not been mentioned at all, it has the makings of an ambush in HQ next Sunday.

They had Kk at bigger odds in the Leinster final. It's Corks to lose.

not a HOPE in the hurling, cork will be attempting to stay competitive with galway next week. Footballers are flying it alright, BUT donegal will have plenty of confidence in semi and will feel they should beat cork after beating kerry

Nor here.
Our hurlers are certainly 4th of 4 left. May beat Galway but wont beat KK/Ty
Footballers have a chance alright. That said, they'll have to beat Donegal and prob Dub to win it, so not easy. Def have a decent chance tho.
Fantastic to be in 2 semis tho, albeit expensive!!

Considering they are the only county to do it in recent times and would realistically be the most consisent county in this regard it wouldnt be out of the realms to think it.

Cork look the class of the field in the football. They have a few kinks to work out with their selection, but once they get that right would expect them to win it out. They actually look closer to their 09 form today, was very impressed with them.
Wouldn't call the hurling out of the 4 left. There would want to be some magic mushrooms there but!

I can't see it however if Cork can get over Galway and play Tipp they have a chance, the bigger teams just horse Cork off the ball. Will Galway turn up history says they can't put two back to back games but they have a super manager and serious talent. Will Cork get enough ball into Horgan, Paudie Sull and Luke Not so sure. A lot of pressure on Pa Cronin.
Big ball Donegal nearly threw it away they will match Cork physically but Cork have more scoring forwards, a fully fit Cork team will win the football with a bit of luck.

If the hurlers can catch Galway on one of their off days, then the double is certainly a live possibility, but only if Tipp beat the Cats.
If we beat Kilkenny, there's a possibility, - perhaps not a strong one if we've learned our lesson from last year,- that we'll convince ourselves that we've only got to show up on the day to collect our winners medals.
Cork certainly are in pole position to win the football, although I wouldn't write off Dublin

Continuing to repeat the same wrong analysis will never make it right. Tipperary were beaten in last year's AI final because Kilkenny were better than them on the day, and much better than the final scoreline suggested. Unlike 2010 Kilkenny were at full strength (Shefflin's contribution in 2011 versus 2010 the prime example). It had nothing to do with Tipperary being overconfident, they were beaten by the better team. This Tipperary team although very good will not go down in history as a great team unless and until they win a 2 in a row at least. I would be very concerned about August 19th if I were Tipperary supporter (in particular if Galway beat Cork), as all the talk about Kilkenny being finished after the Leinster final is a great motivator and I am sure they are lapping it up on Noreside during training. There were supposed to be finished last year as well if you remember. There is nothing this Kilkenny team would like better than another crack at Galway.

I agree, especially having lost by that margain. You know Kilkenny will have a chip on their shoulder about that match even though Galway fully deserved it and would love another crack at them. I personally think it'll be a Galway/ Kilkenny final.
Hey let's hpe for a great Cork/Galway game next week, we've had a few over the years.

So your ability to get inside the minds of Tipperary's Final squad has enabled you to make that definitive judgment, has it

Labane you and I have seen this picture too many times before.Christ it was only a few years ago when they went surfing up and down the field against this KK team winning at will that day.Jaysus I will never forget it as watching Galway that day was like they were touched by an angel.I am not about to go down that road again.I reserve my feelings now for that Monday evenening in September when that McCarthy cup hopefully sails over the bridge of Athlone on a Galway hooker to Kinvara Gort Ardrahan and yes Labane.Home. Oh man how good would that be.

Not a hope will we do the double. Football looks good at the moment but I will be travelling to Croker next Sunday more in hope then expectation. If we could have a solid performance and live with Galway for the majority of the game I would deem the year a reasonable success in terms of our team building. I have good mass in our forwards ability to score and I still think the potential is in them to score a bag of goals against a top team in the future but christ we really really need to tighten up at the back. Joe Canning will have a right field day against us next Sunday if we continue to play scrappy and loose hurling in defence.

It's likely Cork will get to both finals, certainly in the football and they should beat Galway in the hurling.
They will win the football final
They will lose to Kilkenny in the hurling final.

No, my ability to watch a game of hurling and see what is going on in front of my eyes.. but if you believe that Tipperary lost because of overconfidence then continue to believe that.

I agree cork are looking like the team to beat in football. Can't see them going any further in hurling . Galway should win this one comfortably. I recon cork are a fair bit off the other 3 . Fancy kk or tipp in the hurling. Semi should be cracking !!

For the Semi final I think Tipp need to concentrate on their own motivation for winning the the game and let KK take case of themselves , I am sure KK would have liked nothing better than to win the 5 in a row as well.
As regards Sheflin he on record himself as saying he hit more ball from play in the 2010 final when he was on than he did in the whole of the 2009 final when he was fully fit, he said he felt and was moving perfect just before he had to go off yet Tipp were 5 or 6 pts up at that stage and dominating everywhere, anyone who was there including most KK people will tell you that it was going to be Tipp's day no matter what happened that day , it's really only those from outside who can't help bowing at the KK alter that make excuses for KK over that final.

Not to turn this into a tipp/cats thread my opinion is tipp hurled a lot of ball in 09, that final for long periods they were on top, any breaks cats seemed to get them but you make your own luck. Ref certainly did cats plenty of favours everyone remembers the Marty m incident that should tell people that cats knew they had gotten away with it that day.
In 10 hunger and young legs, the injury to Shefflin tipp were well worth the win but cats without the main man for so long made it easier, can't judge cats on that final but before the injury still thought it was tipps day.
In 11 anyone that saw the tipp warm up knew the intensity was not there but for Cahill they should have been beaten out the gate, at the end cats hanging on as they are an ageing team, legs were gone in last 10 minutes but tipp made some poor decisions on and off the pitch.
Kilkenny ultimately have gotten more out of what they have then tipp, I suspect a hungry tipp will have too much for Killkenny Sunday if they can reach the 09/10 levels if they are a shade off then even with all the miles on the clock Killkenny will win and go on to take the all Ireland. This is not to insult Killkenny here but only so many days left for some lads a lot of hurling done.
Not to insult Cork but Cats would be too physical for them, big weights program needed lee side. Galway lot of young players beat Cork and then beat Cats again huge effort required, they'll win all Ireland's but maybe a year too soon they might have to lose one to win one.
Cork double if they win Sunday could definitely be on, beating Galway will be tough if they hurl like theydid in the Leinster final, intensity, movement and savage score taking
