The greatest joke ever bestowed upon the Irish people. To cap it all Limerick's most loved tax exile hosts a boorish party for the great and good of our little Island. Laughing at us is what these elites are doing and we seem to be happy to take it.

JP is entitled to do what he wants with his money.

Agree that it is disturbing with respect to the NAMA staff buying NAMA properties.

JP is a simple man. Like Sean Quinn. Simple men, with simple tastes. Like building a giant lake in the shape of County Limerick. Like bottles of Dom Perignon. Like €2.3 billion bets. The kind of thing the average man in the street can identify with that makes him think "he's one of us".

Of course he is but put all the JP's together and you come up with an unbelievable sum of money
.

An interesting article from Gene Kerrigan who as usual in his recent articles is spot on. The way they have managed to turn us on each other with tales of welfare abuse and single mammies is our own fault. The country is being taken for a ride and our government, not for the first time. is following like a meek little lamb to the slaughter. Maybe after this next budget we will see the people rise up to some extent but I won't be holding my breath.

The only people being taken for a ride in this country is the middle class PAYE worker who's been cleaned out to try and sustain the modern socialist ideals of the boom era behest on us by FF and that this government haven't the guts to reform. Anyone who can legimately avoid tax liability in this country does right to do so as the alternative is for this government, similar to the previous, to waste it as quick as it comes in. Case in point , last exchequer figures, tax take 500m ahead of forecast but spending
budget absolutely blown out of the water.

So middle class workers that worked right throughout the boom don't count for shhit, do they? The vast majority of people now on welfare were actually working up until the Capitalist system so beloved of the like of yourself and the current government failed and the rest of us get to pay for it. If those who screamed about the benefits of Capitalism, eg The PD's and the banks, actually applied the rules then they would be out of jobs surely? But no, what we have here are weak lily livered politicians who are so up the w/bankers holes that they are out of touch with the ordinary Patrick and Patricia on the street.

Instead of leadership what we have is a bell end like this fella. His country is falling asunder and he comes out with this guff.

The irony of course is the same capitalist system is now paying for this welfare , and generous welfare at that. The ultimately sham is that the socialist alternative to capitalism peddled by the likes of SF, Boyd Barrett, Higgins , and various other bleeding heart groups could never be sustained by a socialist economy and can only be funded by capitalism. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you.

Good man, don't answer my question then. But quite how you can say that the system that has brought almost the entire globe to it's knees, will be the system to restore everything is something I cannot accept. That is complete and utter bullshhit my friend. While I fully accept that there are plenty holes in the policies of Higgins et al I know which system I would prefer to have rather than the current sham.

I'm not wrong at all. What would your alternative be?

Restore everything to what? If you mean Restore things to a situation where we live within our means and you believe the socialist ideals of SF & Higgins et al are the way to do this then you better get ready for a significantly inferior quality of life. The vested interests in this country love to hear the populist nonsense being spouted by Kerrigan in the article you quote. Portraying a myth that the bad capitalists have hoodwinked the poor ordinary Joe yet again by funnelling away and hiding vast wealth away from the tax man. This sort of stuff is pure gravy for those with their head still firmly rooted in the trough like Public Service Unions, the Semi States, Politicians, Quangos etc as it deflects from the real issues. The ordinary Joe has been hoodwinked alright but the bad capitalists are the least of his worries.
