Anyone know what has happened to the Kilkenny Cats Website as there is a completely new website there now which is completely different and can't see any discussion forum? Pity if its gone as it was a very good site overall and much more objective than other similar sites in fairness.

Ah sure after losing the Leinster Final they probably havent the heart to carry on. If they lose to Tipp as well they might give it up altogether and take up the football next year.

The lads pulled the plug, felt it was too much work to keep it going.

Its dead on the callan bypass flattened. It got hit by a galway reg mondeo which stunned it thats when it wobbled across the road where i finished it off with my TS reg avensis but dont worry it didnt do any damage to either car.

Had they signalled in advance that they were considering pulling the plug, or was it a sudden death. I signed up for it the day before, and then it goes wallop!!!

I assume it was incontinence on behalf of the site owners.
They forget to renew the domain name and domain name stealers nipped in to grab it when it came up for availability.

Well, that explains it then :)

It just went suddenly. There was no money to keep the site going.

There is a huge legal threat attached to website forums these days as well, and indeed Twitter and Facebook. There have been countless examples of comments being twisted and purposely misinterpreted for legal purposes. People can live without that too.

We really are turning into a litigious society where the leeches that are solicitors are running the show from now on.

What would the annual cost be in running a website like KK Cats considering it was a fairly basic discussion forum?

About €15 a year.
That could feed a whole village in Kilkenny for a year and supply them with clean running water!

You forgot to mention electrical supply. Honestly! :)

To be fair it costs a bit more than that, especially when you add in the costs for upkeep, server space, copyrights, things like that.

And you can imagine being a web based forum where people throw out comments you might get the odd legal problem.

Bit like saying banks caused all our troubles when a lot of people should just look at themselves in the mirror to see the cause of our woe.

A fella who knows these kind of things told me that the KKcats Admin sent a pm to all his posters and told them to go on other web fora and spread the Hurling Gospel to the philistines!

Only now and then though...

He called the win in 2009 a lucky KK win, and I reckon my reply - which was just before midnight, probably broke the site...
