Billy Walsh is a legend of a man and we are now one of the best amateur boxing nations in the world which is a fair achievement for an island of 5 million people. Not much else to shout about in the track and field but when the total funding for all of these athletes is €11m then the support networks obviously isn't there to compete with the very best in the world.

I was watching a bit of the show jumping yesterday and they said the Saudi Arabians budget for the show jumping alone was €40m. They achieved 1 bronze as far as I know and it was accepted as a good return for them. Just goes to show what the country is up against in terms of funding.
