just wondering as i went into ticket office on dorset st today and the lad told me that its unlikely that they will open the top decks. thus we're in the slightly curious situation that there's a game on sunday that doesnt have huge public interest and yet all bar the s**te tickets out in the rain ( heatwave ends sunday) are already gone early in the week.

if they are not opening the top decks for an all ireland semi involving two counties with big populations who (presumably) are exciting local interest then perhaps its time to bring back the double bills for the semis.

Wont happen simply because of money. The GAA are happier to get 2 lots of 30,000 people and have an empty stadium 2 weeks in a row because it means they can charge €40 for a stand ticket each day. If it was a double header they wouldnt be able to charge €80

For the life of me I thought it WAS a double header. As great a stadium as Croke Park is it looks bad on tv being half full.

Question, surely they'd get a bigger crowd in Thurles? Best hurling venue in the country hands down.

the GAA can't take a semifinal out of Croker as this would effect their corporate box customers

Well then have the 2 senior semifinals on the one day.

They are probably prevented from doing that by the corporate agreements as well.

One less day out for the corporate boys...

You rarely see the upper tiers on TV, so when the lower tiers are full, the stadium does look pretty packed most of the time.

Not much consolation to those sitting in the rain.

How much are tickets on Sunday? Are there student discounts in the Cusack?

€40 for Hogan and Cusack. You get €15 refund in the Cusack if you have 'valid student ID'.

The Tipp Kilkenny match will bring over 60 thousand on sunday week. Double header is out of the question.

I'd say that's optimistic. I can only recall one hurling semi final bringing 60K and that was Waterford/Cork a few years back, which was pre-recession. Might break 50K but I'd surprised if it broke the 60K mark.

Quick question,
I'm trying to settle an ongoing debate I'm having with someone with regard to attendances at Croke Park for Cork hurling matches.
Specifically I am looking for the attendances at the following
Cork V Wexford 03 draw & replay
Cork V Wexford 04
Cork V Clare 05
Cork V Waterford 06
Cork V Waterford 07 draw and replay
Cork V Kilkenny 08
Cork V Kilkenny 10

Does anyone know where I could get this sort of info.
