Well lads, anybody making any predictions?
It seems to be that they are really up against it tonight

Paddy Barnes will seriously have his work cut out to get close to that Chinese guy Zou. He's got to be going in as a serious underdog, and it would take an incredible performance to win it.
The head has to predict a Zou victory.

Conlon and Nevin are up against two Cubans who I don't know too much about but apparently are very highyl rated.

I think we might get maybe one of the lads through, Nevin maybe the most likely.

Big ask today & tonight for our three lads.
If Barnes overcomes the 15-0 trimming from Beijing 2008 it will be on a par with Galway's destruction of my own county in the Leinster Final.
The 2 Cubans looked good in their quarter-finals, I'd say young Conlan is our best bet.

All 3 are fighting the gold medal favourites in their semis, so all 3 are going in as serious underdogs. I reckon none of them will win silver as I think whoever wins their semi will win the final as well, so they'll either get gold or bronze. I predict one gold and 2 bronze.

Conlon is our best bet by a mile.. The other two will have to pull the performance of their lives out of the bag.. Barnes looked tired to me in the 3rd on Monday so i hope he hasnt done much in last few days..

John Joe has the potential to beat anyone but he is such an enigma that its impossible to predict..

Paddys fight will be closer the but the chinese lad is like taylor he can win at 80%

where would you start witjh this steaming pile of cack?
the 4th round? there's only 3 in mens boxing lad, paddy's opponent, whilst dominant 4 years ago is 31 now and barely got past the last round against a very limited fighter, john joe nevin is in the form of his life and has been exceptional in this tournament

Barnes probably has the toughest task against Zou but anyone that saw the fight in Beijing would agree that he landed some clear punches and the score of 0 was a farce. He has gotten better and Zou was very lucky to beat a cuban in his earlier fight, didn't look impressive and I thought the judges were generous to him in the scoring. Barnes still has the toughest task but I think it should be a lot closer than their past record suggests.

With Nevin it really is all down to him. Dunne says he's a talent a match for anyone and he's underdog again but maybe it'll be his day.

I was so impressed with Conlan in his last fight. Fighting in a different stance to his natural one, which will make it harder for his opponent to prepare for him. He kept calm throughout and made his class show in the third. Again, he's up against the favourite for the division but he is a classy fighter and definitely has a chance.

Barnes also lost 22-8 to this guy in the 07 World Amateurs. That is a couple of right beatings. Have the they fought each other in the meantime?

The bookies take on the fights

Lazaro Alvarez Estrada 1/3 vs. John Joe Nevin 11/5

Shiming Zou 1/4 vs. Paddy Barnes 100/30

Robesiy Ramirez Carrazana 2/9 vs. Michael Conlon 3/1

All the lads are underdogs according to the bookies and will find it tough. Katie was 1/12 yesterday but only won by 2 points in the end, does anybody see any value in the Irish lads here?

Would love to see at least one of them get further but I just think the three will have to settle for Bronze, Just think they are really up against it to get anything out of today.

Zou's longer reach proving decisive here; Paddy's having to lunge to score points, or allow Zou to pick him off to get a chance to score some body shots
