Congrats to team GB. A terrific performance by the coaches and players. Congrats also of course to Team Ireland, especially the boxers. Was in London recently and saw that a lot of the gear in a leading Supermarket chain- used by GB was made in the Peoples republic of China. Tee shirts/Towels etc. A bit of an insult to the Athletes if you ask me.

Im looking at their athletes now swinging medals around the place. They dont seem too insulted to be honest

Olympic medals aren't made. They are crafted

They were produced in Wales I think. Read it somewhere a few weeks ago

I'm sure it's the same for most teams in the Olympics, or indeed any sport.
China is manufacturing capital of the world.

The uniforms worn by the US athletes were made in China, caused a bit of controversy when that came out.
Good Olympics for China all round I'd say.

You wouldn't see that sort of thing in the GAA mind you, O'Neills, Azzuri and Gaelic Gear all the way......

Don't know how the GAA get away with 'Irish Only' rule for playing gear, what with all the open borders EU rules etc., strange one.

a very good point boru .can you let me know how much official gear o neills actually produce in the republic of ireland and where and how many people they employ in that production.companies like masita make their gaa official gear in kells .i wonder why o neills have a complete monoply with limerock county board and with most irish counties.an audit needs to be done to let gaa people know the true position and if their is fair comepition .
