Only ever heard it in Irish and long may it continue. Always liked Michael O'Shea's commentary but don't know who did it yesterday.

absolutely ridiculous in this day and age that this carry on is still tolerated, as correctly pointed out 90% of the country haven't a clue about this mumbo jumbo

Shows how often you watch it of you think its usually done in English except the final. The minor matches have always been on RTE as Gaeilge and long may it continue as far as I am concerned.

Jaysus CP, do you need a dose of Prozac or something?
No pleasing most lads on this site be it with our commentary teams doing it in English or 6 games a year in Irish. Do us all a favour and just turn off the sound.

When I consider the amount of my taxes that went to teaching you and your ilk Irish, all I can say is that either you are a lazy cultural bigot a la Declan Lynch & Ian O'Doherty or alternatively you were in urgent need of a special needs teeacher throughout your time in school.
I am stroongly inclined towards the latter view.

tv3 have the minor finals as far as I know! they show the irish commentary on 3e and the english language one on 3! That assumes that they will do the same as last year!!

It's your opinion but it's a sad state of affairs. You seem to recent and begrudge everything and everyone on this Island. I'd say you would have loved to have rounded up the British army in 1884 below in Thurles to try and stop the establishment of the GAA to ensure we wouldn't be able to enjoy our games like we can today.

Fieldsman & Cusack Park, the matches are on TV not radio. Just turn off the sound and look at the picture. Problem solved.

Your comments on this thread suggest your English teacher failed you miserably as well.
Have you ever said anything positive about anything, ever?

You'd swear to God it was in French or something.
This is our national language. Everyone learned or learns it in school. Its not difficult to pick up on what the commentator says.
There weas a threade on here lately asking why the TG4 commentary had to be in Irish. FFS.

Having it in English causes problems too, just see the many threads complaining about MArty Morrissey and Ger Canning every year.
To be honest, all I need from commentary is the player's names as sometimes it's nice to know who's who.
The rest I can figure out for myself

I wouldnt being fluent in Irish but its nice to hear it on the TV, it also feels good when you actually understand what theyre saying. The commentators speaking as Gaeilge have more passion for the game too. They make a game more entertaining with the passion, even though i mighnt know what theyre saying you can feel whats happening on the pitch.

I've only a minor understanding of Irish but have no problem with anybody speaking it, or wanting it spoken.
I would say though that some people, myself included, have a particular problem learning languages, my missus of 7 years is French and i've never spoken an actual sentence to her family in French in that time. I know the odd word in French but find it extremely difficult to remember words never mind formulate a sentence. Pretty much the same as gaelige.
So sorry for wasting yere tax trying to teach me Irish but i'm certainly no lazy gobs**te.
