Tom wrote an article in yesterday's Mail accusing Cork of having no bottle and that they are going backwards. I would love to see Tom on the Sunday Game, like him or loathe him he is proper entertainment value.

He's often spot on and usually hilarious as well. Takes no prisoners. RTE should have him on but wont. Des Cahill wouldnt be able for him, then again most of Ireland wouldnt really.

I would give anything to see Tom on the Sunday game. There's a Youtube clip somewhere when he debated Rugby on 95Fm a few years ago. It was dynamite.

Cork have gone backwards? Since when and how exactly did he justify that statement? The championship exits over the last 3 years were infinitely worse than last Sunday, even a casual observer of the game could see that.

Well Waterford would have beaten Cork if Casey had'nt gone off injured, maybe some progress but not huge.

Casey? Surely you mean Shane Walsh? Waterford would have been better off playing with 14 than bringing him on!

Loughnane on the Sunday Game accused the Cork fans of not getting behind the team as he said they believed that they lacked the stomach for a battle.

Don't think they have gone backwards, however, for all of Denis Walsh's faults, he got Cork to a league final and all ireland semi. How much progress has really been made?

Thanks for that Mystic Meg. And even "some progress" is not backwards!

That was in DW's 2nd year and in each of his 3 years Cork were beaten out the gate in knockout championship. This is JBM's first year and at least Cork put in a respectable performance on Sunday.

Cyril Farrell has had his day. All he does on the Sunday Game is talk over people and he speaks so fast that I never know what he is on about. Just imagine Tom Ryan, Loughnane.& Mulcahy/Duignan/Sheedy!. RTE viewing figures would go through the roof every Sunday. If the Sunday Game doesn't want him, shove him in between Giles and Dunphy for the soccer. I have just brightened up my own day at the thoughts of it.

Shane Walsh, Tom was saying Cork did'nt want to make the hard challenges, i think most Cork supporters would agree with him.

Always enjoy listening to Tom; and Richie Bennis, too

Those two and Tony Considine would make for a refreshing Sunday Game panel; even as a one-off
Considine's conspiracy theory rantathon on 'Off The Ball' a few years back makes Jerry Kiernan's legendary 'nobody plays rugby' sound like timid bleating, in comparison

That would be the problem-there would be very little sense talked by Tom Ryan if he was on TSG. Entertaining sure, but not much more-if we want the hurling analysts to go down the route of the football with lots of wild statements and very little analysis then Tom Ryan is your man-bring back Babs as well while we're at it.

Well Cork would have beaten Waterford easier if we had scored our three goal chances in the first half, or if Hoggie hadn't hit 3 easy wides or if...

We can play this retarded ass game all day long.

Saying Cork have gone backwards is deranged. Tom Ryan is a troll, nothing more, nothing less.

Yeah Waterford might have beaten us if their bench wasn't so much more inferior to ours, sweet jaysus...

Absolutely right. And for as many people on here that would find him "entertaining" he would turn off more. It is more professional and more incisive analysis that should be promoted, the likes of Sheedy or ex players like Donal Og.

Tom Ryan always comes across as a bitter old crank. Tom would know all about teams having no bottle given that he presided over Limericks best team in half a century and had two glorious chances of winning the All Ireland and couldn't do it.

As for Cork players not making the hard challenges, the vast majority of that Cork team work there asses off, a few don't and when a few don't it makes things very difficult but you may be sure that an increased work rate when not in possesion will be one of the main things worked on down here over the winter.
