Don't know anything about the hotel itself, but what a magnificent location, sitting on top of the sea right in the middle of God's own country, hard to find a better location if you get a bit of heat on your back. Enjoy

Liscannor and nearby Lahinch are beautiful spots-you should head on to the new Visitors Centre for the Cliffs-they're charging €6 now but well worth checking out if you've never seen the cliffs before. You can head down to Lahinch if you fancy trying out surfing. Some nice pubs in Lahinch but the last time we were there was a Bank Holiday so the cream of the crop from Limerick and Clare came into town and made for a lovely dangerous aggressive tension around the town.

For sure go to see the cliffs, you can pass by if it's a misty/foggy day (as it can sometimes be)saving your €6 but well worth it if it's a nice day. Drive on in to Doolin, and you can get the ferry to Innisheer if you have a mind to, takes an hour roughly, peace appears to have reigned somewhat between the warring ferrymen. Drive on from Doolin out the Fanore Road to the Doolin Cave, to view a spectacular stalactite (the 3rd largest in the world), a bit expensive maybe at €13.50 but well worth it, visit takes the guts of an hour, a guided tour. Drive on through Fanore and on to Ballyvaughan for some of the most spectacular scenery you will see anywhere in the world. As I say, Gods own country. Heading the other way, if the tide is out you can pretty much walk for miles along the beach right to the end of Lahinch beach passing the golf course on your way.

One word of caution though, try to avoid driving from Lahinch to Ennistymon, roughly 3k but could take an hour to drive with the bottleneck in Ennistymon.

Lahinch to Ennis via Ennistymon is around 30k, via Miltown Malbay its 40k approx, a little bit longer distance wise but I suspect quicker a lot of the time particularly during the busy summer period.

Take a walk across the road to the Anchor Inn / Vaughans. Its a top class spot for seafood and steaks. It can be a bit expensive at night but they do a reasonable evening menu. Word of caution though.

Went through Ennistymon (from Lahinch) on Sunday and there was only a small delay - 5 mins.

I think people should be able to see the Cliffs of Moher free of charge - Clare CoCo did not build them and they used to be free. The 6 euro for the Interpretive Centre should be optional.

Am I imagining it or used this hotel be called The Liscannor Bay Hotel? Nice spot alright and a nice bit of grub served up at the bar. Be sure to explore the surrounding area.

Vaughans is on the same side of the road as the Cliffs of Moher Hotel.

It is free,,, you just walk park the entrance boxes, there is a right of way to the cliffs guarenteed by the previous land owner. However, if you bring the car and want to park they will charge you, and they charge person in the car. You can't park on the side of the road.
If you walk up from Liscannor they can't charge you. That said, I heard the interpretive centre is good.
Google it and find out more.

Best of luck in Liscannor Bernie.
now slightly off topic, I was in south wes Donegal last week and visited the slieve League cliffs, apparently much higher the the cliffs of Moher and just as impressive a location. However like me I will guess that most of ye have never heard of them. What is it with the cliffs of Moher?

Handy enough walk from Liscannor though, isn't it? How long would it take you - the guts of half an hour?

And the rest I'd say-what is it 3 miles or so all uphill?

5.5 km if you take the shortest route..other alternative is the drive up, let the family out and pay for parking for yourself. The county council hate this but they came up with the daft system.

Ah, so if there's only one person in the car, only one pays?

Thanks, didn't know that. Bet dozens of tourists don't know either. Must put it up on TripAdvisor. Fvcking rip off charging people to visit cliffs which have stood by themselves for millenia.

Yep. That is the lunacy of it if you don't want to use the facilities and just take in the view.
