Who will get this?
I was impressed with the way John Sexton did the Munster Under 21 final, and maybe he will get the nod.

Brian Gavin should get it. The best referee in the country by a mile.
Cathal McAllister won't get it after today anyway. Will Brian Cody want Barry Kelly appointed?!!

Refereeing the semi-finals has ruled out both Brian Gavin and Cathal McAllister.
Would imagine it's between Barry Kelly and Diarmuid Kirwan with Michael Wadding and James Owens as potential outsiders.

I heard it mentioned it was between two Westmeath men, McGrath or Kelly. I'd have no complaints with either.

Not Kelly. Jesus a Kilkenny man could take someone's head off and Kelly would be hard pressed to even book him. He just either has a blind spot for Kilkenny or he's intimidated by Cody or something but there's no way he can ref the final. I'll never forget Tullamore in 09 when Tommy Walsh committed the two most clear cut yellow card fouls ever and he let him off with the second one, and then to add insult to injury he booked Shane Kavanagh for a foul exactly the same as the one he let Tommy Walsh off with.
McGrath isn't too bad and neither is Gavin from Offaly although he certainly did us no favours in the semi final. If I go through all the ref's I'll probably think of an occasion when each of them have screwed us (in my mind anyway!)
The referee for this is vital, it's so hard to referee the game nowadays as with the swarm style tackling that everyone is employing it's a very thin line for the referee between letting it flow and blowing for fouls.

Barry Kelly has done two already, I would imagine that they will give somebody else a chance. McGrath is young enough and has time on his side. Sexton hasnt as long left and maybe this will be his time.

Well James McGrath did the Clare-Waterford game in the Munster championship and it was well acknowledged that he was shocking.
