Lads its time for RTE to drop this fella. It was painfull listening to him brown noseing KK on the commentry all afternoon. He was nearly in tears that Lar Corbett wouldn't leave Tommy Walsh alone. Anytime KK won a free he had some comment on Tipp. Anytime Tipp won a free he was silent or would say it was soft. I was watching the game in a pub and by the end of the game the most common thing that was been shouted at the screen was "shut up Duignan ya clown"

If he was a KK man lads would be giving out that he is so blinkered but he is meant to be neutral. Surely RTE can get someone else and not be inflicting Michael Duignan on us!

when lar corbett was cut at the start of the game and it showed in the replay he was struck, he comes out with, "faceguards are responsible for a lot of players getting cuts and nicks around the eyes and face"....

To be honest I don't know why Duignan didn't do the Galway v Cork game and Donal O'Grady could have done today's game. Instead of the other way around.

No different to O'Grady or Mulcahy almost creaming for the opposition whenever Kilkenny are playing, O'Grady especially.

If they get rid of him they'll also have to cut O'Grady loose as well!

He was a joke today. He must have a Kilkenny jersey on up in the commentary box. His comments on Lar Corbett were over the top. He had nothing to say on the off the ball stuff that Corbett was getting so about time Rte made some changes to the co commentators.

I have never ever been a fan of him as an analyst but when he came out with this nonsense today after the early Lar Corbett incident:

"faceguards are responsible for a lot of players getting cuts and nicks around the eyes and face"

Enough is surely enough with this clown.

Also Michael, Lar wasn't trying to get your beloved Tommy Walsh sent off just merely following his manager´s tactics of not been anywhere near Jackie Tyrell and picking up Tommy which Lar and Tipp management should have abandoned early in second half.

But seriously Duignan is gone beyond a joke at this stage and the least we deserve is decent and fair mnded analysis from RTE.

It was disgraceful and marty wasnt far behind him today as how dare lar follow tommy, without question hes gone completely to the kilkenny side at this stage and indeed our offaly brethern seem to be annex by Kilkenny at this stage such is the brown nosing they are doing.

And Des Cahill too. The Sunday Game was enjoyable for a few weeks without him there.

None of you were at the game today I'd wager. Tipp were an absolute disgrace across the board as was visible from the stands today. Corbett physically assaulted tommy Walsh on at least 30 different occasions today (that sounds like exaggeration but sadly isn't). Duignan was at the game too and had a responsibility to communicate to the viewer what was happening. I haven't seen his commentary but if he came down hard on Corbett it means he was doing his job right.

They are awful brown nosers alright, but tbf they know who the winners and who the losers are. Except the same from the pair of them for the AI final.

Janey lads, are ye all from Tipp, or what?! I think Duignan's easily the best of the RTE analysists. Sure, he is an admirer of KIlkenny - but then, they are pretty good.

they were hurling tipp out the gate and back down to thurles
the same as they did with Cork in this years league final.

lar corbett never even tryed to hurl today he was a disgrace
he is payed to say it as it is, tipp and lar were brutal today

its a munster chip on there shoulders i'd say.

Well I was up at the game today and I was obviously neutral for the senior game. Some of the carry on was absolutley ridiculous but there wasn't anything terribly dirty apart from Paidi Maher's filthy slap that should have been a red.

Both teams were equally guilty for the flare up at the start and I wouldn't really read too much into that. But the way Corbett followed around Tommy Walsh was just bizarre. He kept doing it right up until about the 50th minute and you'd have to say neither player did much really up to that point, from there on Tommy Walsh really stormed into it in fairness.

It seemed like Corbett was trying to bait Walsh into doing something stupid and getting sent off and I suppose Tommy's early yellow just encouraged Lar. But Walsh was way too smart for that and he kept the head very well.

I heard Declan Ryan on the radio on the way home and he said that it was a tactical thing to have Lar follow Tommy around like that. That just seems daft to play your most dangerous forward in a role like that and then to play a man who's you're main ball winner but not exactly a scorer at full forward. Surely Tipp must have known Tyrell would be used on following Lar but they never tried to work a situation where they isolated Lar one on one with him close to goal. That's where Lar could have proved dangerous because he's lethal in those situations and while Tyrell is a fine corner back he can be exposed in a one on one duel like he was for Joe's early goal in the Leinster final.

All in all it was a great first half but very disappointing second half (from a neutral point of view)

Duignan called it as he saw and possibly as most people saw it. I am no fan of KK but an admirer. The tactics of Tipp today brought Tipp hurling to a low - if Tipp fans want to complain about anything let them look at Declan Ryan first and then think about RTE commentators. In fact I was surprised that Duignan was so quiet on the P maher incidents. Time for Tipp to get behind their minors and look in the mirror

8,200+ posts you have, and in truth this one is pretty much your level.

You are making a show of yourself. It isn't much of a life, is it ?

As for Duignan today - I assumed that when he (maybe too strongly) criticed Corbett, he was doing so from a hurling point of view and from the point of view of helping or hindering the Tipp cause.

I think if I were on Corbett's team today, I'd have said a lot worse.

He could hardly be expected to assume that a senior inter-county manager would have instructed a brilliant forward who operates best in space, to go about marking a defender. That would be silly. And is difficult to believe.

I also assumed that unlike myself and a lot of other people here who are freely commenting, that Duignan was AT the game and had a vantage point where he could see a lot of things going on that the tv camera wasn't picking up. And the early yellow card as well.

And that as a former player he wouldn't have much truck with players trying to get other players sent off for a second yellow.
