ANy one on here anle to help?

My friend was put off the road in 2007 for 9 years, suspended to 6. couple questions. first one, any chance of him getting the licence back as he has served over half his time.

second question, in order for him to get the correct dates
he was put off the road for, is there an online source that he can access to get the details of his case. obviously it was a DC case

third question, if his licence has expired, while hes off the road does he need to resit the test?

over half his original sentence but only one year left according to your post. If he's anxious to get back im surprised he hasn't been enquring through the guards or whatever as to what he needs to do, if he has a six year sentence and five served he should definitely be on the case at this stage. Surely he can ask his solicitor????

edit to say sorry im no actual help but find it surprising he is so close to end of sentence and doesn't know what steps he should be taking... sounds a bit lazy...

If he's from Limerick, why doesn't he queue up outside Glenview Gardens and ask Willie O'Dea. Now that he's given up on attending the Dail, the Fianna Fail spokesman for Whatever should have plenty of time on his hands to make representations on your friend's part to the relevant authorities.

Fairly sure he'll have to sit his test again after disqualification. Also, I reckon his insurance premium will be sky high.

I lost my license 2 years for dd, I remember the solicitor asking for the sentence to be longer, 2 years and a day rather than 2 years as then I could appeal after half the sentence served? I got 2 years and therefore could not appeal after 1 year and had to serve full sentence.

He will have an endorsement for 3 years after he gets the license back.

In my case the tax office held the license and I had to call them to get it back. The sentence kicks in either 6 or 8 weeks after the date of conviction. So you work out your date of return from this. Ring the local tax office, they should be able to tell you when you can get it back. To appeal you have to back to court and basically beg. Usually its after half a sentence longer than two years is served, I think.

9 years is some sentence, was it a second dd offence if you mind me asking?

I hope this is some help because it really was a baffling experience losing a license, no-one seemed to know what happens and you have to go looking for it back with no firm date and lots of bulls**t stories from courts, tax office, gaurds.

I suppose we deserve it for breaking the law.

Edit: He won't have to resit the test unless the Judge specified this as part of the sentence or the license is more than 10 years out of date. 95% sure of this.

The legal lads over on boards.ie might have more info for you. I'm surprised the solicitor hasn't all this looked into.

Would love to know what "your friend" got 9 years off the road for.
