I cannot find the post I posted up here the day after the Leinster Hurling Final. I congradulated Galway on their win. Pointed out how they bottle and choke consistently over the past 20 years. Predicted Kilkenny to win the All ireland.
I got slated for it.
Galway posters main reply was that I was from Waterford and that we were the bottlers. Pathetic reponse...
Thats not the issue here. Waterford had a fine team and may have won an All ireland but didnt. 1998, 2002, 2007, 2008 were fine examples of choking. We all know that. Ud want to be an Idiot not to know it. I was a member of some of those panels.
My point was on Galways brilliant Hurlers who all suffered stage fright year after year. The Talent produced in Galway every year is only something we can dream about in Waterford. But sadly talent wont give you guts.
Galway will be blown off the field by the Kilkenny in the All ireland Final.
Everybody should be priviledged to watch the greatest GAA Team of all time in full flow.
Kilkenny and Brian Cody I salute you.

I take it you'll be out golfing on final day. Or playing with your fiddle?

Why don't we just forget about the hurling and make Galway presented Liam and the medals to the cats on 9 September ?? It would serve them right for their Insolence in the Leinster final.

Now let's get personal with him. He's entitled to his opinion and shouldn't be slated for it. If I was a bitter choker like he was I think I'd have the same opinion.

I cant see it myself. Galway will give KK a much stiffer test than Tipp did in that second half. They have a fairly young side, they have AI medals all over the pitch at minor and U21 and AI Club, they know they can beat KK. Will KK get as easy? No. The question I have is can KK do it again? There's going to be some amount of hype about them now coming into it - bus loads coming down from Antrim to watch them train etc. Before the AI Final 2 years ago, 8000 turned up to watch them train - you could even see that surpassed.

Can't see Cunningham telling Joe Canning to do a 50 minute man marking job on Tommy Walsh!!

If Im home in the next few week I might go down there and watch them train as well, just to see what all the fuss is about. The hype has started already. On another thread on here they are building a shrine to Tommy Walsh ffs.

I saw that. He didnt hit much ball Sunday.
The right thing to do would be to get a bus laod of lads to go over watch them training then go on the beer on the way home.

No, they won't.
Anybody thinking Galway, especially the way they've been playing this year, are going to be there to make up the numbers is either a complete WUM, a complete fool, someone who doesn't follow hurling or more worryingly, a recent escapee of a mental institution.
I think Kilkenny will get the win, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see Galway claim Liam, and whoever wins it I don't think there'll be much in it.
Don't mind the idiots (either Kilkenny or not) saying Kilkenny will walk this, if Galway and Kilkenny play to the level they've showed this year we could be seeing a game to match any of the last three finals.

If he keeps hitting the line balls to Joe like he did in the LF there wont be any complaints from me.

People are also quick to forget that Waterford choked again this year against an average enough Cork side (as many Cork posters have admitted) when they were 3 points up and let Cork score the last 5 points of the game. Galway held their nerve to beat Cork by 5 in the next game. However the more KK are blown up with posters like bran flake / redlead saying they are "unbeatable" etc. the better for Cunningham and co. as it will definitely keep the Galway management and players grounded and focussed on the job at hand. It will be a very tough assignment and they know that but it is great for Galway for everyone to be writing them off and dismissing them.

I think Cunningham is going to post your mail up on the dressingroom wall beforehand. That will be some motivation for the boys! Gaillimh Abú!

Kilkenny will be ready for Galway. No doubt about that I cant see anything other than a kilkenny win.
On another note I have to say I think jackie tyrell is probably the best defender i have ever seen. I thought id never see such a more physically imposing defender than him until........Kieran Joyce. WHERE DID THIS LAD COME OUT OF? he absolutely dwarfs over jackie. he is like the incredible hulk back there for kilkenny.
I mean i keep an eye on the league to see what new players are breaking through in every county and i never saw his name unless i am mistaking. It just shows how much hurlers there are in kilk unlike any other county.

kieran joyce has been knocking around for a while..(would be known more as a wing back or corner back) he played 3 years for the minors and u21s but was always going to find it hard to dislodge tyrell, hickey or kavanagh.. he is a hulk of a man and is very good under the dropping ball and when he has the ball in hand but he looks as if he cant run.. it will be interesting to see him on david burke..

Good post OP, and I agree with you. I'll watch the final of course but I think we all know what to expect.
As an aside, Waterford is a fine hurling county, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Keep em comin Turenne - all grist to the Cunningham / Galway wheel. It seems that most people on this site WANT KK to win and are KK wannabes!

I think its fair to say everyone outside of Kilkenny will be supporting Galway for the final, including of course my good self, but unlike many, I prefer to put head before heart - it is very much Kilkenny's to lose. And in truth, Kilkenny will dominate hurling for another 3-4 years, much to the sport's detriment.

Usually wouldn't put much faith in any galway team to succeed but I believe Cunningham is a top quality coach(a different level to Ryan) and that Galway will give give KK a game of it. KK's scoring power in short bursts will give them the edge in my view but if its close with 15 mins left my money would be on Galway. Canning is the best hurler I have seen in the flesh and would be great to see him leading Galway to Liam.

Kilkenny are been overrated now after beating a completely unfocused Tipp team. Had Tipp played hurling, instead of dishing out the dirt and taking Corbett out of the game, they'd have beaten a tired KK team. Galway showed that KK are on their last legs and will doubly prove it in the Final. Anthony Cunningham is a powerful manager and has J Canning in the right place, fitness and mental wise, since taking over.
