After today's win at greater than a mile, is Frankel the best ever?

The real question is 'is frankel as good at being a horse as Henry/Tommy are at being hurlers?'. What do you think?

Frankel probably not as good as them, because horse racing isn't "a man's game". As such.

He is nigh on unbeatable over every trip from 7f to 1 mile 4. He would cruise through the Arc if he was sent there but i'd say it will be the champion stakes and that will be it

he needs to contest the arc to prove himself, he has never been tested at the highest level, and the Arc is the highest level at 12f, Longchamps on the first Sunday in October is where legends are made

Easy, Nigel De Jong is the greatest. Best in the world at everything according to Yodumbo. You should know that by now.

He hasnt been tested because he is so much better than everything else. Are you saying Canford Cliffs, Excelebration and St Nicholas Abbey are not top notch group 1 horses???
In any other year Excelebration would have cleaned up every 3 year old race he ran in

STS broke the course record when he won the same race as today 3years ago... in a 4 horse race..with 3 ballydoyle lads trying to take him out of it

One of See the Stars best performances was in winning the Arc in a star studded field back in 09, the same year he won the Guineas and the Derby.

A lad on the radio this evening said he won't be entered in the Arc because the ground would be too soft to suit him (the horse, not the lad on the radio).
He sounded fierce knowledgeable in fairness (the lad on the radio, not the horse).

I know, I was there, 6 gp1's in 6 months from 8,10 and 12f, we'll never see the likes of that again

Frankel is not entered in the Arc. He needs to be supplemented on the 4th of October if he's to run.
I also disagree with Stay Calm that he's unbeatable over 1m 4f. If that was the case he'd be entered in at least 1m 4f race.
He's a great horse but greatest I'm not so sure. It's a shame he's been campaigned so cautiously. He's only faced two true tests since the Guineas, racing against Canford Cliffs and today stepping up to a 1m 2f on a stiff track against Group 1 horses.
I would hope in ten years time that Sea The Stars wil have the greater legacy. Certainly a horse who was campaigned a lot more aggressively taking in multiple Group 1s over different distances, at different tracks, in different countires, against different horses, on different ground.

Frankel is exceptional but it's a pity they're only stepping him up now. If he had ran in the Prince Of Wales and the Eclipse instead of beating the same horses silly in the Queen Anne and the Sussex there might have been more chance of him stepping up to a mile and a half in the Arc. There's every chance he would get the trip. He galloped all the way to the line today and his full brother stays it well.
I think they are afraid of losing the unbeaten record but winning the Arc could elevate him from beng one of the greats to possibly being the best ever. Having lost a race has taken nothing away from the legacies of Dancing Brave, Nijinsky and Brigadier Gerrard.

Mary Harney. Great for the hurdles (avoiding them).

Close, but not quite. Mary takes a back seat to nobody in the equine-looking stakes, but the thread is about speed.

A mention must also go to Henry Cecil. He was under no obligation to go to York today so huge credit must go to the man considering he was clearly unwell. The interview after the race will more than likely be his last in public and typical of the man, there was no mention of his own illness, just how great Frankel was. A class act is Henry Cecil
