Looks like it. I think its a good move and gives the team much needed stability

http://www.thescore.ie/limerick-john-allen-576456-Aug2012/

JOHN ALLEN WILL remain in charge of the Limerick senior hurlers for the 2013 season, it has been confirmed tonight.

TheScore.ie has learned that the former Cork All-Ireland winning manager has agreed to take the reins for another campaign and has confirmed this to Limerick county board officials.

Allen succeeded another ex-Cork All-Ireland winning boss Donal O’Grady as Limerick manager for the 2012 season. Limerick made progress in his debut year, blooding several young players at senior championship level despite suffering defeats in the Munster quarter-final against Tipperary and the All-Ireland quarter-final against Kilkenny.

In between Limerick collected championship victories in the qualifier series over Laois, Antrim and Clare. Their efforts to secure promotion from Division 1B of the National Hurling League fell short in the decider against Clare and they will be in the second tier again next spring where their main challengers are likely to be Dublin and Wexford.

Great. Last thing we need is a change again now. Roll on next year.

To be fair it wasn't going to be any other way. Getting out of the lower league must be a priority this year because Limerick hurlers have proven that they have no business being there. It will be a hard task for sure but is certainly within the scope of this panel of players. I wonder what the panel will be next year?

What low expectations from a former hurling county. Very sad to see.

Perhaps Allen can have another successful season by maintaining Limericks position in hurlings second division. That seems to be the new level of success for Limerick hurling.

At least rugby and soccer will continue to thrive for as long as John Allen continues as Limerick hurling manager.

Can you imagine a proper hurling county being happy with another year in the second division and being knocked out of the provincial championship in the first round!

Where exactly did he say he was happy with spending another year in division 1b? So you don't agree with his statement that John allen should stay? Stability is badly needed in Limerick, anyone from there will tell u that. We are hardly happy with this year but that doesn't mean John allen should not be given more time to finish the job. He doesn't mention any expectations in his post all he said was he's looking forward to next year.

Could possible happen next year , I really think it is wide open next year , I never really gave anyone outside of Tipp a real chance this year but Tipp are regressing at a fast rate and other counties are coming to the final stages of their rebuilding where they are expected to deliver something at this stage.

I think Limerick have both Tipp and Cork at home if they draw them next year , that could turn out to be a significant factor yet.

Thanks for answering there for me SS. Nobondy minds a bit of a wind up but there was zero effort put into that!

TippTed - I'm not a Limerick man but I have to say they got a hell of a lot closer to KK than ye did.

Confirmed he is continuing on. Great to see plenty of optimism on this thread. Stability is without doubt what this team needs. Roll on 2013 indeed!

Good news, I've been fairly impressed by Allen's management this year. The Clare match showed it meant a lot to him as well. A bit of stability for a change is good to see.

Great news altogether. Clearly we are improving under Allen and if we got a run without injuries at all who knows what we could do. Slightly worrying might be the lack of any apparent replacement. Be interesting if any new selector(s) are brought in and who.

All in all delighted with this. Allen has built a really positive camp playing a lovely brand of hurling and playing to our strengths with a young and improving team. Hope to see us get out of division 2 and then all out for the first round of munster and then see where the season takes us!

Its people like TippTed who make Tipperary so unpopular. Would have thought last weeks debacle would have knocked the swagger completely such arrogant individuals. Might take a long winter of discontent and soul searching to kill off the remainder of these people

I know alot of people have doubts about Allen but a couple of years stability wont do any harm after everything thats happened in the last few years. Good move I think.

why would people even bother replying to tipp ted, hes obviously a WUM, trying to change the course of this topic, hopefully allen can build on what he achieved this year, although he will have to try and get out of division 1b which wont be easy now that there will be alot of pressure on daly and the dubs to bounce back up to divison 1 also.
