PRESS STATEMENT RE TIPPERARY SENIOR HURLING MANAGEMENT

Tipperary Senior Hurling Manager, Declan Ryan; Coach, Tommy Dunne and Selector, Michael Gleeson have informed Tipperary County Board that they are stepping down as the Tipperary senior hurling management team and do not wish to be considered for re-appointment having completed their 2 year term.

Tipperary County Board and the Tipperary senior hurling panel would like to thank Declan, Tommy and Michael for leading Tipperary to 2 Munster senior hurling championship successes and their dedication and commitment in carrying out their roles during the last 2 years. All three men have made a great contribution to the GAA in Tipperary over a long number of years and we are fortunate that men of their calibre have been willing to serve the county so generously and so loyally. We acknowledge the time, effort and many personal sacrifices they and their families have made in the interests of Tipperary's senior hurling fortunes and we firmly believe that their good work will lead to continued success for the county.

We wish them and their families well for the future and we look forward to their continued involvement with and contribution to the GAA in Tipperary.

A committee led by County Chairman, Sean Nugent, will now commence the search for a new senior hurling management team.

Who is the intermediate manager? Won the All Ireland today. Who are seen as the front runners here, needs a good appointment, some squad of players there with the right group in charge.

Sheedy will surely be favourite. You'll also have English mentioned but he's probably been out of the game too long. Eamon O Shea might be a decent bet if hes interested and Sheedy isnt. Other names youll hear will be Ken Hogan and McIntyre but I cant see either of them getting it.

Personally I'll be hoping the bould Babs gets it!

Sheedy hardly wants it does he, the time to stay on was after the all ireland, can't see him going back now when he's starting to get into the cushy rte role as well. Wouldn't give it to macintyre in a fit, not sure about Hogan.

had heard o shea can't/ won't touch this job, seems mrs o shea will go nuts if he even thinks about it so unless he's a foolish man he'll go along with what his better half wants. personally would love to see babs and leahy doing the job it would be some comedy show!!

The word is Sheedy,English and Hogan have all ruled themselves out.Babs or McIntyre would be great for Tipp in fairness or better still the 2 of them together.

it appears as though Tipp are going to go outside the county for their next manager and interestingly it may be a Clare man. Obviously Davy is with Clare and Dalo is staying on with Dublin so it looks as though one of the boys managing in Limerick club circle will be the candidate. Sean Stack Na Piarsaigh, Tony C Killmallock , Sparrow Adare or Lohan Patrickswell - all fantastic men and great coaches and would clearly do a great job with Tipp.

It could be TC , great man with the media and players, with Redser, Lar (retired) and Babs as selectors!!...a dream team.

He was a disaster in Galway and I would be shocked if any county gave him a managerial job again.

Very well handled by Tipperary. In Limerick there would be a circus at the next county board meeting. When the management resign by choice or otherwise, it means that nobody is shafted and there is no witchhunt at a county board meeting and the previous regime is well on its way into history, instead the focus of the next meeting is finding a new man.
