Great buzz around Stradbally this year - what a difference some sunshine makes

I saw the following music acts:
Alabama Shakes: v enjoyable, lead singer is some show-woman
The Maccabees: good band, got the crowd going
The XX: Lit up the main stage after a slow-ish start
Sigur Ros: Amazing performance - again

David Kitt : played the hits good an early, knew his audience
SBTRCT: bats**t mental, crowd loving it
Crystal Castles. Even more bats**t mental, female singer a lunatic, deadly
Villagers: left me cold, don't understand the love/ hype
The cure: paycheck rock, set way too long

Anyone else down? Body and Soul arena rocking

Just back in home in Limerick. Wasn't bothered about the Killers, and went back to the tent after Elbow, and saw the mayhem and numptiness on it's way down to the main arena, we decided to pack and leave.
Weather made a big difference, though I noticed a lot more around today, and a very messy crowd too.

Highlights for me were:

Sigur Ros
The Cure
Bombay Bicycle Club
Elbow
The Roots
Explosions in the Sky

No idea why the Cure was 3 hours?? I think Bell X1 should have been on the main stage before the Cure, they rammed the tent they were in and Explosion in the Sky should have been on later in a smaller place.

Missed a lot of acts too, just couldn't do it all. I was staying in a yurt. It was very quiet and civilised in that site. Was down at the main campsite and it was VERY messy. Lots of s****gs around today...

Will go back for sure. My first time. Only band I really wanted to see was Sigur Ros though.

Stayed in the Jimi Hendrix campsite. Extremely noisy on Friday night, but didn't see any misbehaviour in fairness, crowd seemed chilled out. Had to come home last night but a great couple of days all in all.

The women at it were stunning. A lot of bad fake tan on lots of women, but in general, the standard of women at the festival was absolutely top class. I am tormented.........

Saw an article in yesterday's paper where the numbers this year were down quite a bit.
Blaming it on the entry price of €230 in these recessionary times !
Is it worth €230 ?

I cant speak for paying that much as i only went for yesterday and it was €96. Id say well worth the €96 anyway, cos there a fierce variety of things to check out during the day. One thingth annoying and its happened at a good few concerts been at recently is this crack of taking tops off bottles at enterance "as full bottles are dangerous weapons" so you either drink it down, dump it or carry around a bottle .Yet you walk in around the corner and can buy as many bottles as you want with top on!! Its pure rip off at its best
whest is best

Very enjoyable weekend, it was my first time and i hate camping with a passion so i went with low expectations. Stayed in the Jimmy Hendrix campsite, pretty loud until about 4.30 - 5am as there's a rave in the nearby woods. Sunday brought a load of day trippers and the main arena was very busy. A lot of the sunday crowd were younger and from conversations i had with them, all some of them were interested in was taking pills! Wasn't really in keeping with the weekend as friday and Saturday were top class and the crowd were really chilled out. I have worked at Oxegen and it definitely has a more of a scobie crowd than the Electric picnic. I would go again but would do things a bit differently. Have never had a worse hangover than i did on Sunday as well, the key is to keep on drinking!!

Highlights for me

Ham Sandwich
The Cure
Christy Moore

My first time too - the first year in a few that Kilkenny people have been eligible. I just went on Sunday; no time for that camping lark.

A great day out; weather super, plenty of choice in food and beer available at lots of bars. The best part of ten hours music, more I think if one arrived earlier than I did.

The headliners, Elbow and The Killers were great but lots of other good stuff. Of Monsters and Men were amazing, even though I didn't know any of their stuff. I loved The Antlers and The Staves too and enjoyed seeing Tindersticks for the first time.

Would hope to go again, GAA schedule permitting.

About three feet up his own arse,

I love that monsters and men single, I might pick up the album.
I've noticed a lot of negativity in the media re The Cure's 3 hour set, i can hardly think of anything better, whats wrong with people?

My first Electric Picnic and I loved it. The headline acts that really did it for me were Sigur Ros and Elbow. At the smaller venues, I really enjoyed John Cooper Clarke and Paul Buchanan. Bellowhead were brilliant (both times). The only disappointing act for me was Hot Chip - bad sound. The Cure sounded great, but three hours was too much for me.
