Obviously with the final on this week, there are still a few spots that could swing either way depending on who wins it. I'll have a stab at them now with another of my famous predictions!

1. Anthony Nash

2. Jackie Tyrell (guaranteed if he has a decent day on Joe)
3. JJ Delaney
4. Fergal Moore

5. Tommy Walsh
6. Brian Hogan
7. Johnny Coen

8. Kevin Moran
9. Andy Smith

10. David Burke
11. TJ Reid
12. Damien Hayes

13. Colin Fennelly
14. Joe Canning (HOTY)
15. Henry Shefflin

A rough draft to be fair, will obviously be different depending on who wins, as the winners generally get 8-9 of the awards every year. Bonnar Maher was in contention up until the KK fiasco which is a real shame as he is a quality player. He may still even get one but I doubt it. What would your opinions be?

Why not Niall Donohoe instead of Tommy Walsh? Toss-up between Smith and Tan for a Galway midfielder. Cyril Donnellan if he has a good final ahead of either Shefflin or Fennelly. Taggy in contention?

que Richie Power to score 2-6 in the final. We have to be 8 or 9 points the better team to win by 1. Strange logic I know. Gailimh abu

Would you put Nash in goal really? He put over a few frees fair enough but I can't remember the outstanding saves and his puckout strategy could've been better. It certainly hasn't been a vintage year for goalies, Nicky Quaid has impressed me most but dissapointed against KK(Henry's fluke aside).
Outside of the finalists I think Limerick deservean all star this year and have a few contenders, Tipp as Munster champs have to get one but after the last day only one man has a chance. A lot will be decided on sunday of course.

Nash pulled of possibly the save of the season vs Galway in the semifinal
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cad5xB2A53Q not the best view of it though

whether we like or not the all-stars are hugely influenced by the most recent events, a case in point is tj reid who couldn't make the KK team 2 games back and is not even definite to start on sunday, but here he is being touted for an all-star.
the way i look at it nash will probably get the keeper spot bar herrity or skehill having a day a la pj ryan in '09, on sunday.
after that the only players i would see as certs would be canning, hayes and delaney, everything else is up for grabs depending on who wins and who does what on sunday.

Kobe what has Tommy Walsh done to get an all star this year? He'd want to be amazing in the final to justify one IMO.

Batter they're supposed to be individual awards but in a way I agree and Limerick nearly "deserve" one. I think the only realistic candidate is Tom Condon though. Maybe if Tyrell has a poor game in the final he could sneak in.

Expect Donnellan to get one if he has a decent game in the final, and midfield is down to whoever is more impressive in the final, Tannian or Smith. Hopefully Moran gets the other.

A lot of candidates for YHOTY in the final too, it's probably between Joyce, Doyle and Burke.

1. Anthony Nash

2. Jackie Tyrell
3. JJ Delaney
4. Fergal Moore

5. Tommy Walsh
6. Tony Og Regan / Brian Hogan Final performance pending
7. Johnny Coen

8. Kevin Moran
9. Andy Smith

10. David Burke / Eoin Larkin
11. TJ Reid / Bonnar Maher

I can't see anyone bar Nash and Moran breaking into the All Star selection this year.

tommy did get MOTM against limerick but agreed he would need a good final to justify selection.
joyce is 4 years overage for YHOTY, he's 25.

Haha! Taxi for me... possibly my most ignorant post ever! Having not seen him before this year I got the impression somehow he was the same age as Doyle.

Johnny Coen would appear to have it sewn up anyway in my opinion.

HOTY could end up being a direct battle in the Final JJ Delaney or Joe Canning.

Coen has young hurler of the year wrapped up id say.

I'd swap you Richie Power for TJ Reid at 11 - Power has been very poor all season IMHO, while Reid was excellent against Dublin, Limerick and Tipp - but otherwise thats who'd I'd be picking as well. Also agree with you on HOTY, whoever comes out on top in that duel could well seal it.

I'd say Mullane could be in with a shout after his one man attempt at beating Cork this year.

Has Henry really done that much so far to merit an allstar?

If he's a good sunday then fair enough, but I'm not so sure he'd deserve one yet, but he'll get one all the same.

would agree with you on the player awards. coen nigh on a cert, and cannings to lose with delaney main opposition. so checked out prices with shoddy shower and they have delaney priced up at 14/1! that's gotta be worth a small wager?

Shefflin was very good in both the Limerick and Tipp games?

Does anybody know which club has won most All Stars? I'd say James Stephans?

Yes Delaney at 14s is great value genuinely feel he has been the HOTY so far Leinster Final showed how important he is to KK if he marks Canning and keeps him quiet I think he should win it if Canning has a good day win or lose he will probably end up with it.

i think the village have 27, their closest rivals in KK are the shamrocks with 19/20. can't imagine who could come close to that total. the cork city clubs, blackrock, glen rovers and finbarrs would've won quite a few in the 70's and early '80's but little if any in recent years.

That WOULD be the ultimate humiliation for Tipp: not to receive even one All-Star this year

The semi result & carry on is a hell of alot more humiliating than not getting an All Star award imo.

Who would you consider All Star material off this years Tipp team Jim?

Outside of Bonnar Maher it's hard to see any other stand out player for Tipp. Yes they were that bad against Kilkenny.

I honestly think that if Damien Hayes performs well in the final this Sunday & Galway win, he will be hurler of the year. At 20/1 he is worth a small flutter imo.

If KK win then it is hard to look past JJ at 10/1. I see he has shortened from 14/1, paddy must be watching.

Completely and utterly irrelevant to a county, and like Harry said, the fallout from the semi final, as well as other ongoing issues since Ryan took over would be of more concern to the genuine Tipp supporters. They didn't get any allstars in 98 either but I can't remember much 'humiliation' as a result of that.
