He really showed his true colours on the sideline yesterday verbally assaulting the Galway manager, absolutely disgraceful carry on. Should be banned from the sideline for the replay.

Also constantly trying influence referees and linesmen, always in the linesman's face.

DISGRACE.

He was wrong yesterday alright.

Regardless of whether the Glennon free was soft or not, his reaction was not going to change the referees decision.
Cunningham was hardly to blame for the free!

I thought the worst aspect of the incident was Cody & his 2 selectors surrounding Cunningham shouting Dive,Dive.

On reflection, Cody will know he over stepped the mark.

Cody has been at this for years and seems to get away with it. His team have had the same approach but because they are very good hurlers its accepted. Why Cunningham did'nt give "sort" him out is a mystery.

Cody showed his true bully boy tactics yesterday but KK were giving sly digs and belts all through the game. They had 5 yellow cards in the backs and they were prepared to spread them around so as not to get anyone sent off. As rebelrebel30 has often stated they are getting away with it because the referee, officials and the media are afraid of Cody's bullying, belligerent nature but someone has to stand up to them now once and for all and take stiffer action. Not sure how they thought Anthony Cunningham was going to influence the ref but KK got a lot of soft frees throughout that game IMO. Sometimes they also slyly moved the ball to more scoreable positions e.g. when TJ Reid got a free a yard from the sideline in the second half he brought it in a couple of yards more to give Shefflin an easier angle to score the point. The officials will have to pick up on these things the next day.

He certainly let himself down with his carry on at the end mouthing off at Anthony Cunningham. I have come to expect more from him. He could have saved it for the cameras later on and said the free was soft and left it at that. I was hoping it would kick off properly, was half threatening to.

Anthony Cunningham is too much of a gentleman for that - Cody is fine when his arms are folded and KK are hammering the opposition. Then he throws out cliches afterwards like "we were in a serious battle there" or "they are a serious team". When its put up to him, he shows his true colours which are many shades of red!

If Cody had told Shefflin go for the goal from the 21 free then the soft free at the end would not have mattered.

Cody, when he looks back on yesterday today will know he did wrong imo. Looked really bad tbh.

+1. Whatever went on when the free was given you could say fair enough, it was the heat of the moment. But to be wagging a finger in Cunninghams face whilst shaking his hand at the end of the game was serious bad form.

I would have no issue with Cody losing it a bit during the game , he is only human and that was a natural reation by anyone in a pressure situation but I was dissapointed he tried to carry it on after the match.

Also a bit childish to see Cody's other selectors surrounding Cunningham and mimicing their master.

Cody reminded me a lot of Alex Fergusons antics on the sideline for Man Utd, a really sore loser.

In fairness to Cunningham he didnt react and came out of it all with credit.
Kilkenny should be fined for Cody running onto the field near the end and for abusing the linesman on more than one occasion.

Also everyone knew that the ref was going to give a free for the slightest contact near the end, afterall it is worth an estimated 5 million to the GAA. Cody would also have known this. Does anyone know if he left the penalty decision to Shefflin or did he tell him to point it?

If Cody was told at half time that they would have got a draw he would have taken it imo.

Cody said afterwards that he just left it up to Shefflin.

ye are watching too much sky sports and making a mountain out of an anthill.
brian cody is the greatest manager to have ever managed an inter county hurling team
he has been involved in 12 yes 12 all ireland winning teams and it would do the rest of us no harm to copy his methods both in training and during match time

he disputed a free--- so what dont we all
he had a hop off the opposition --- so what dont we all

he wagged his finger whilst shaking his hand??????? surely the most ludicrous post in eons!!!
he shook hands with anthony cunningham at the end they both had a laugh and got on with it something we all should do.
stupid thread lads more reason if needed for one thread on the all ireland final

I suppose tannion pulling on Richie hogan twice before the Galway keeper pucked out the ball in the second half was Kilkennys fault as well. And Cody was more upset over the clear tommy Walsh free out just before the dive and that's what started the verbals between them.Anthony Cunningham with his hand signals to Cody was just as bad

Cody is a bully, he has to get some sort of sanction for that display yesterday.. to do that on the biggest day of the hurling year shows the measure of this lad. He was like a rabid dog towards the end of the game and made a holy show of himself.
Whatever about cody trying to ref the game how Barry Kelly didn't tell shefflin to eff off is beyond me, he was in his ear all day..

What did you think of Cunningham's goading of Cody when the free was awarded, did you think that disgraceful too?

Micko. Is the thread title not a little ott? Could you edit it maybe. ''Disgrace'' is a bit of an over reaction.

The match was over Cunningham wanted to shake Codys hand and move on but Cody was still rabbiting on. It was disrespectful to be wagging his finger in Cunninghams face. Had he done it to a lesser man he may have got a reaction. Thankfully Cunningham didnt stoop to his level.

He'd do well to look back at yesterdays game and see how many frees Kk got that were similar to Galways last free, but nobody threw there toys out of the pram for those.

I couldnt agree more, ye have to wonder how many posters here are just WUM's or how many have actually played the game or managed and been involved in games where the pressure is on and your fighting for every little advantage.

Its human nature, Cunningham was also doing the whole yap, yap, yap gesture with his hand at Cody. Two top class GAA men losing it while they fight for every advantage for their team. I wouldnt have it any other way. Some of ye need to forget the whole "joe duffy phone in culture" and enjoy yesterday for what it was.

The only goading going on was from Cody, shouting like a lout into the back of Cunningham's head and wagging the finger at the ref. Typical head teacher he is clearly used to intimidating and bullying kids /staff alike and now treating adults just the same way.

Cunningham has got into Codys head big time and it looks like Cody is badly rattled. The pre game mind games about the Ref and the incessant whining about Micheal Rice injury was a dead giveaway. Brokern fingers are the most common injury in hurling and you would expect a huling man like Cody to understand that, what possible good was all the moaning anyway it only undermined his own team. I think this is the real sign of a man under pressure. As I mentioned last week the loss of Rice is huge given M Fennelly is out of form and Hogan is looked like a u14 in midfield, changes will be needed in midfield as Galway cleaned KK out yesterday.

Cody has plenty of form for nasty behaviour, he infamous post game interview with Marty Morrissey, he tried it on with Liam Sheedy before and got his answer too. Cody let himself down badly yesterday, his acting the maggot was a disgrace.

I think he may have done so midway through second half.

Think people making too much of Cody shenanighans. Not much in it. Probably gives Cunningham some satisfaction knowing he had the great man well rattled.

Agreed this is a total overeaction-at the end of the day Cody reacted because it wasn't a free. Cunningham remained calm as he also knew deep down it wasn't a free. He kpet stum, as we all do, when we get away with something.
