Anyone hear it on Todayfm this morning? This isn’t word for word but close enough and he roared it out, “this is for our neighbours across the border in Cork, There’s only one football team in Ireland”.
Shows the man has no bit of class whatsoever. Can’t imagine someone like Cody coming out with something like that. Absolutely no need for it at all.

Didn't hear it, but if it's true, it's fairly low class!

Yeah I never heard any managers come out with classless statements like that all year, Can you imagine if he said something like “We scored 5 goals and Dan the Man scored none”, thankfully there’s nobody out there with that little tact...

As a Corkman, I say let them have their moment. We're a hurling county first and foremost and that was reflected by the attendance from the cork support in the run up to the football all ireland.

Given that Pat still works for the Munster Council, I thought
his comments might be a bit more temperate!

Kilkenny is bordered by Tipp, Waterford & Wexford.
Something tells me that Cody is safe from his neighbours.

Pat O’Sea showed his class when he put that well prepared team on the pitch on Sunday, hard job well done; he does not need etiquette lessons from bystanders.
It’s one of the easiest management jobs in Ireland in that the team is usually inherited in good physical shape, and are practically vacuumed packed with experience, but its also one of the hardest because of the ‘F****n animals’ that support that particular team.
Forensic analysis of a team of players and backroom staff, who have been having Alcohol and microphones shoved into their face for 24 hours solid is cheap and does not scream class either.
Ye give out when these managers trot out Cliché after Cliché that say nothing at all, and then ye are not happy when they managers actually say what’s on their mind, give the man his due.

When Liam Griffin and the Wexford squad came to New Ross (of which some of the town is in Kilkenny) he said to look across the river to your neighbours and see what they have done, and we should be aspiring to be like them. This after winning the All Ireland for the first time in donkeys years and he was still humble enough to acknowledge KK, when all we wanted to do was to make sure they knew we won it! He knew then what was in store for us I think.

Pat O'Shea has been around the GAA scene as a Coach for some time now. He has earned his spurs the hard way ie by spending hours upon hours out in the pitch coaching teams from 6 to 36, from Cahersiveen to Carron. He probably isn't being paid €60,000 as Manager of the Kerry Senior Football team either.
I have watched his progress very closely this year. He was up against some of the most experienced and feared Managers in Football, from Mickey Harte, Joe Kiernan,John O'Mahoney,Pillar Caffery to the fiery King Billy himself.
He has been measured and calm in all the Interviews he gave all through, when he won and when he lost.
It was similar immediately after the Final whistle on Sunday.
I must say that his behaviour has been an example for every Manager to follow.
I didn't hear what he said last night, but I expect, as has been suggested, that it has been a long 48 hours for Pat and his Panel.
It is probably the major downsode to these late-night arrivals with the Trophy.
Something similar occured in 1997 when a most reserved Clare Minor Selector went bananas when he was given his opportunity to address the massive crowd that stood before him. The combination of alcohol and addrenalin was too much for this man. It was less than appropriate.
However, there is only one way to prevent this from occuring. Do away with the Open trailer and microphone. This would be a pity.
I'm sure the Cork players and Mentors aren't too worried about it. They have their own disappointments to get over.
I doubt that Pat O'Shea would bat an eye to what Billy would have said if Cork won.
And, before someone suggests that Pat O'Shea should have waited until all the Public Speaking tasks had been complete before "Indulging", forget it.
He, along with the entire Kerry Backroom team worked their asses off for the past 12 months and more waiting for this event.
Let them enjoy it......

Congrats on the win, Aido. Well deserved.
Can't say I'm too bothered about what Pat O' Shea said or didn't at the Victory Parade. I'm just disappointed that the Victory Parade wasn't in Cork! Next year, I suppose...
Congrats again.

I wouldn't read too much into it. What you say in front of your own people is always going to be different and less guarded than what you say to the media. If you have to watch everything you say, it would make the whole homecoming too sterile

True Tipptops a bit like Willie O'Dea that time, who at cabinet level was all for taxi deregulation, but down in Limerick he was urging the local taxi men to 'keep up the pressure'. Aboy Willie.

Yeah but story wasn't so diplomatic on the same night :-)
In fairness to Pat O'Shea he was giving the crowd what they wanted,
I trekked up from Cork to Killarney to the homecoming and found it to be a very muted affair. The gimp who was 'warming' up the crowd was muchmore annoying than anything said by the rest.
Co Chairman was a great speaker but Gooch seemed very vervous in addressing the crowd.

What's with the politically correct bullsh*t. IF the comment is true, it's low class - period. I make no apolgies for calling it as I see it.

Don't you just love it when Willie talks about "the government" as if he's not actually part of it.

Drink taken ...
Gooch had 30 minutes sleep sunday night.
Declan O'Sullivan could barely string a sentence together for RTE yesterday.

Maybe just a case of high spirits (both types) in front of a celebrating home crowd. Easy to get caried away.
The old lad did remark to me that he seemed half-cut on the news when arriving back home.

Pat O Shea has been very calm and measured in any pre and post match speeches all season. didnt hear the comment that has caused offence to some but if he was engaging in a bit of triumphalism in his hometown on homecoming night so be it. when folk are reduced to pulling u up on stuff like that you know you must be doing something right!!

I suppose he was only letting out Kerry peoples real feelings towards cork people. There was a lot of stuff all week leading up to the final about "Kerry would be set back 100 yrs if they lost to Cork in a final" etc.
Maybe our Cork players should take heed of that comment and rise up and fight back.
Finally, I think the Cork county board should look at the whole football game in Cork. I know and I have spoken to many Kerry players / mentors who has expressed amazement at the pick we have in Cork and the players that are not picked. I know of lots of players playing in Duhallow who wouldnt even be looked at because there not from Turners Cross but who Kerry would consider in the mornnig. The scouting system is a shambles in Cork.
