Theis is a group of about 6 of us all aged between 25 and 27 who were thinking of going to Santa Ponsa for a week. We were in crete last year which was mad but we want to go somewhre different this year. As the options from Cork or Shannon are fairly limited, Santa Ponsa seems to be the only choice. I`m a bit worried it will be all leaving certs though. We would be going towards the end of July. Could anyone who has been give us some advice.

why don`t you just hire a sunbed, buy twenty kegs and 1000 frozen burgers, hire a few hookers and put a few large buckets near to hand and stay at home. largely the same effect but not half as expensive

Come on mate....your old enough not yo be going to some tack hole like that full of Leaving Cert xxs.

Try think outside the box....why not the Bull Running in Pamplona in July. San Sebastian in Northern Spain is supposed to be a great party town too.

Saying that....if you and your mates are going to be lost if you don`t see Irish/English pubs and food then maybe Santa Ponsa is the place for you.

Good point - Santa Ponsa is fine for the 18-20 year olds heading off for the first time without the folks but it is a bit of a hell hole with shabby Irish/Brit themed pubs and loads of skangers walking round in their Celtic tops, either drunk or hungover.

Its looking dodgy so, we`re limited cause we live in cork and don`t want to fly from dublin and the options are limited flying from Cork and Shannon.

In fairness if ye are considering a hole like that at yere age ye are only after the easy lay from a slapper.

If it`s what you`re after then you`ve the right spot I suppose.

I didn`t realise there was an airport in Cork. Who would want to go there?

Went to SP with five friends all in the age range 21 to 24  (me being 24 )  a few years back and YES, I felt too old.
Of course it`s a party town and we hit it hard for the first 5 or 6 nights but to be honest I found the second week a drag.
Having said that I`ll never forget Laura from the Wirral........

fly cork to barcelona for about 200 or so return

spend a week in the city and then a week on the costa brava
you can hire an apartment for a week in the city for reasonable enough money.
fantastic place altogether with sights, clubs beaches pubs restaurants women etc etc

get the train out to montserrat on the last day of the week to get absolution for what you get up to the following week on the
costa brava which will have any dubious pleasures you require to complete your holidays and is about the size of munster so hire a car and head off.

Go to Thailand for two weeks!!!! The flights are the most expensive part.Live like a king in the 5-star hotels and go to the infamous Full Moon parties. Loads of stuff to do during the day aswell. Unbelieveable holiday!!! Migh I add, when in Rome - eat pizza, when in Thailand - ....  (Do I need to finish that? )

The fact that your not even bothered to come up to Dublin Airport and avail of dozens of more potetial options I really reckon you should just go to Santa Ponsa. The resort type place you are looking for is going to encounter the pot-bellied, tattooed, drunk, sun burnt, union jack/tri-colour waving fools  (and thats just the women!! )  no matter where in Europe a lads package holiday will bring you.

Just go for it and get locked out of your head for the week! i think thats the only way I`d survive the place!
