Looking like there could be a fairly major shake up.
But I can understand why you`d want Cullen to hang on. He`s an absolute liability.

Martin Cullen is a fellow waterford man and on a personal level is a decent fella.

I know he`s a county man of your own, and I can`t vouch for how decent he is.
But as a FG man you must see the merit of having such an incompetent in the Cabinet. Anyway, looks like the Offaly man is going to get shot of him.

here`s the latest .....
An Taoiseach Brian Cowen has confirmed Mary Coughlan is to be appointed Tánaiste. Minister Coughlan will also take over the portfolio of Trade, Enterprise and Employment from Michael Martin, who takes over at Foreign Affairs.
Dermot Ahern moves from that department to the Department of Justice.
Brian Lenihan takes over the heavyweight Finance portfolio. Martin Cullen stays in the Cabinet, taking over the helm at Arts, Sports and Tourism.
Brendan Smith takes over at the Department of Agriculture while Cork`s Batt O`Keeffe replaces Mary Hanafin in the Department of Education. Minister Hanafin moves to the Department of Social and Family Affairs.

Jaysus lads, I`d nearly bet they had a more intelligent (and accurate ) forecast in the chimps enclosure in Dublin zoo.

How did you hear these whispers, since Biffo was supposed to be keeping it hushed!

What a pity Biffo did not get rid of harney and then she and her horrible party of right-wingers would crumble, even with the election of an unelected new leader. To those of you who say that we got what we voted for you are correct. But before smug blueshirts lose the run of themselves there are many reasons that you are in opposition and your leader is one of them. Had labour not got the anti-FF hump and actually sat down and discussed a real alternative then they would have joined with FF and would have been able to impose a real socialist agenda on the affairs of the country instead of listening to the Rabbitt.

A lot more than labour had the anti-FF hump as you put it and not without good reason , prominent amongst them were the greens while not ruling out coalescing with FF they certainly stood against the then in-power FF-PD coalition , before swallowing their principles and swapping their bicycles for ministerial mercs.

2- do you really believe FF are left-leaning? (left-wing pinkos etc? )

Ok a socialist agenda might be a bit strong but surely a left leaning agenda is better than the policies we have now where you will get nothing unless you are in the inner circle or wealthy in the first place. Maybe then we would not have to listen to gobs**hes like Paul Hewson and `sir` Bob tell us why we should donate our taxes to worthy causes whilst they, as very wealthy men, pay no such taxes. With regard to FF left leaning, they are slightly to the left of the blueshirts but despite a former socialist leader they are most firmly in the centre at best. It was pd McCreevy that coined that phrase.
