McMahon makes winning return to Clare colours
Diarmuid McMahon made his long-awaited return to the Clare senior hurling team in a challenge match win over Dublin at Nenagh last evening.
McMahon lined out in his familiar centre-half-forward role in what was his first appearance for the Banner since returning from a stint in Australia in March.
Mike McNamara`s men emerged 29 points to 2-20 winners.
Clare are due to play Galway in another challenge match on Sunday May 18th at the O Callaghan’s Mills club as they continue their preparations for the Munster Championship opener against Waterford on June 1st.

CLARE 0-29 DUBLIN 2-20
Dublin hurlers went down narrowly to Clare in a high-scoring SHC challenge in Nenagh on Thursday night.
Traffic getting out of the city delayed the Dubs so the game threw-in 45 minutes late but this did not seem to have an adverse effect on Tommy Naughton’s side who trailed 0-17 to 1-11 at half-time.
Peter Kelly got the Dublin goal when his drive from 50 metres was misjudged by Clare ‘keeper, Philip Brennan, as it hopped into the net.
Kevin Flynn, Dublin’s best performer, grabbed the second goal at the three-quarter mark.
The Dubs were without several players as both Tomas Brady and Joey Boland were exam-tied while David O’Callaghan, Philip Brennan, Ross O’Carroll, Paddy Bergin and Declan O’Dwyer are currently nursing injuries.
SCORERS - Clare: M O’Flaherty 0-7 (3f, 2 65s ) , N Gilligan 0-5, D Barrett, D O’Rourke, B Nugent 0-3 each, C Lynch, P Vaughan 0-2 each, C Plunkett (f ) , M Murphy, F Lynch, D McMahon 0-1 each. Dublin: K Flynn 1-5, P Ryan 0-6 (6f ) , P Kelly 1-0, J McCaffrey (2f ) , D Curtin (2f ) , J Burke 0-2 each, P Carton, P O’Driscoll, D Qualter 0-1 each.
CLARE: P Brennan. G O’Grady, F Lohan, T Keogh. B Bugler, C Plunkett, D Clancy. P Vaughan, C Lynch. D O’Rourke, D McMahon, D Barrett. N Gilligan, B Nugent, M O’Flaherty. Don`t believe evrything you hear Sam. McCrabbe made it very difficult for Naughton to keep him.

if a fella is determined to walk or is behaving unreasonably sometimes there is a little a manager can do.
dont know the circumstances with him leaving but Dublin could do with his services. he put up a big score with Craobh in the championship recently.
who is n corcoran at corner back????

Well there`s two sides to the whole thing I`m sure. They just don`t seem to get on anyway.

I don`t think that Naughton was at fault here- I heard a version that was very unsympathetic to McCrabbe from a senior Craobh`s player. And they tend to back their own!
I would not be a fan of Kevin Flynn- but 1-5 from play sounds good. Hope it is a foretaste of the season to come

forwards are going very well in training. stong competition for palces diarmuid mcmahon returned in good form
david barrett struggled with the hard work in april but has really started to motor well in the last week or so.
the probability is that we will post a reasonable score.
on the other hand the defence is struggling. gerry o grady has not found his form yet full back and centreback are both serious concerns and brennan is having a bit of a slump in form
on the plus side donnellan and daragh clancy are hurling well with brendan bugler coming into some form.
anyone know anything about the offaly challenge saturday?

Really? Was he acting the maggot? ... he was in the paper last week saying he didnt feel he got a fair crack after his injury earlier in the year but maybe he`s glossing over what really happened.

Poor attitude, basically. Everything else flowed from that.

i wonder how much of that stems from dislike of the manager though? they fell out last year as well.

Having refereed McCrabbe I would never fault him for committment on the pitch. Then again it`s difficult to fault any Craobh player for committment.

TAN I was at the 1st half of the game and to say it was poor would be an understatement. I have posted about Gillys injury on another post.
Forwards showed no signs of going well with O`Rourke, Mc Mahon, F Lynch, D Barrett, M Flaherty and Griffin playing below par. Jonathon Clancy hit his customary 3 or 4 wides.
Backs played well in first half Dara Clancy, Bugler, Plunkett (best performer ) , O`Grady doing well.

clancy has really played himself into contention over the last month i believe.
good to see that o grady might have turned a corner.
plunkett needed that as he was apparently woeful against dublin and few enough are convinced about him anyway
can you stick up a fifteen when you get a chance
